Product Description

Amazon.com Review

No more squinting at a column of mercury to learn whether it's a jacket day or a shorts day. The oversized digits on this thermo-hygrometer are readable from across the room and accurately display temperature and relative humidity for both indoors and outdoors. Simply place the remote sensor in a sheltered spot outdoors and keep the main unit indoors on a desk or wall. Temperatures are accurate to a tenth of a degree, in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Icons show comfort level (a smiley face with changeable mouth), and trends in temperature and humidity (falling, rising, steady). Other features include high/low memories and user-set maximum/minimum alarms. Three channels let the main unit support up to three sensors, with a transmission range of 100 feet. The main unit measures 4-5/8 by 4-1/4 by 1-1/8 inches; each unit comes with two AA batteries for operation, wall-mounting notch, and table stand. This thermo-hygrometer is covered by a 90-day warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased!, August 6, 2004

This review is from: Oregon Scientific Cable-Free Thermo-Hygrometer (Kitchen)
I originally bought a GE unit from Target. Piece of junk, very inaccurate.

I wanted to monitor the humidity in my basement workshop with a dehumidifier. With the extended unit, i can monitor my bedroom and with another extra extended unit i monitor my babies room.

All 3 separate units, the main unit and 2 extended units placed together showed very similar readings. The GE product was over 15% wrong with humidity, (they say it's calibrated within 5%).

I also brought the Oregon Scientific units outdoors and checked the humidity against what the National Weather Service reported for the area and it was right on. The GE unit reported 80% humidity in a while the OG units showed 65% as reported by th Nation Weather Service.

They seem more substantial pieces and not toys displaying big LCD numbers and graphics.

These are not expensive compared to really high end humidity measuring devices so i expect inaccuracy and can tolerate inaccuracy within reason. (Unlike the GE sold at target) Therefore this product meets and even exceeds my expectations. I believe it represents honestly what it intends to do for this price range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, November 19, 2004

Purchased a month ago & works great. I retired from the

field of electronics design & engineering over 5 years ago.

A few years prior to that I developed a remote sensing

thermometer (wire connected) that had only a fraction of

the features of this, at a cost of several times the price

of this unit. I am impressed !!!

works as advertised, stand that holds it up falls off every other second, additonal sensors are expensive.
