4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
My wife needed a new alarm clock and, having an older model Oregon alarm, I did not hesitate to get her this clock.
Pros: Interesting design, radio-adjusting ("atomic"[sic]), backlight, initially gently alarm which becomes increasingly insistant, adequate display size, great price.
Cons: A bit big to be a considered travel alarm, time zone adjustment is on...

Very nice looking clock and works very well but.....it falls over at the slightest touch or jarring of the table that it's on! Of course, once it falls over you can't read it and it's hard to figure out how to turn of the alarm or hit the snooze button when it's lying flat and you're just waking up. That's the other thing....the snooze button. You can't just tap it or...

Pros: Interesting design, radio-adjusting ("atomic"[sic]), backlight, initially gently alarm which becomes increasingly insistant, adequate display size, great price.
Cons: A bit big to be a considered travel alarm, time zone adjustment is on the front - your time zone might be accidently changed while setting the clock, no lock to precent accidental activation in your luggage.

A good bedside clock for those who want a battery-powered alarm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Clock!, July 15, 2007
First, don't listen to the previous review. There is a little tab on the bottom of the clock that you can turn out that keeps it stable.

The alarm function is easy to set and turn on/off. The clock set itself right out of the box and accounts for the new DST.

Display can toggle between the alarm and the date, and also toggle between showing the seconds or the day of the week, and the indoor temp is a nice bonus.

Overall, a very good, simple alarm clock with great features. The only slight negative is the backlight doesn't stay on for more that 3-5 seconds at a time.

I bought this atomic travel clock to replace a non-atomic battery operated clock that no longer worked properly. After a quick read through the instructions (I read the product manuals as a rule), I set it up and it has worked perfectly.

Battery life may be a little short (uses 2 AAA batteries - changed them once already but not sure how fresh the batteries were that came with the clock).

The alarm is a gentle beep that gets louder the longer if continues. The display also lights when the alarm goes off which is a nice feature.

The indoor temperature display also is a bonus.

Setting the alarm is simple although not entirely intuitive.

Overall a very good value considering that non-atomic clocks cost about the same or more.

I got this clock for my mom years ago (when it was more expensive too!) and she absolutely LOVED it.
After a couple years, she lost it on a trip and for her birthday she asked if she could get the exact same clock she liked it so much.
(Thank you Amazon buying history!)
I don't know a better recommendation than that.

I bought two of these travel alarms to replace the one I broke. One's being used as a travel alarm; the other's my regular alarm clock. I have a mishmash of thoughts about it.

Despite the fact that I broke the first one, the clock's pretty rugged. It survived dozens of drops to a hard wood floor while I was groping to find it or my glasses in the morning.

It acquires the correct time very quickly.

It has very simple controls. None of that "hold down this while press that" nonsense.

The alarm's volume is just about perfect for waking me without putting me in a panic to shut the damned thing off.

It also shows the temperature. Nice to know what you're waking up to.

Downsides: Only US time zones available. It's too easy to change the time zone. Hit the wrong button and you're an hour off (It happened to me once or twice, but I never had to pay a price for being late to anything.)

Bottom Line: After I broke the first one, I went out of my way to find the same model. Then I bought two of them. I really like this thing.

That's the other thing....the snooze button. You can't just tap it or hit it, you have to squeeze it hard and if you try to do that when the clock is standing up it will fall over. My solution is to keep this as my back up alarm for when I absolutely must get up on time. The rest of the time it's in the drawer.
