Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This sleek little pedometer calculates steps taken, distance covered, and time elapsed, so you can forget the numbers and just relax to the radio. Customizable for weight and stride length, the pedometer features dual motion sensitivity, so it's accurate whether you're jogging or walking. A motivating beep tone gives feedback about speed and can help pace the course of a workout. The FM radio activates when you insert headphones and includes a station scanner and volume control. Constructed with a waistband clip and a protective hinged case, the device is convenient, lightweight, and unobtrusive. The function buttons are a bit on the small side, but the LCD screen is surprisingly readable. As for extras, the 12- or 24-hour clock, 99-hour count-up timer, low-battery indicator, and luminescent blue backlight are great. Ear bud headphones are included. --Emily Bedard

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for casual use, September 6, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PE316FM Pedometer with Radio (Health and Beauty)
Unit works OK, but was not what I needed for serious running. You have to calibrate it to your stride to measure distance, and I was never able to actually get it calibrated within even 25% of measured distance.

The device seems to work pretty well for counting steps and elapsed time, but it's difficult to open in order to see the elapsed time, distance, etc.

The radio worked fine, even out in the boonies where I am, contrary to other reviews I saw.

I returned the unit and bought the Fitsense FS-1 speedometer, which admitedly is 10 times the price, but has more of the capabilities that I needed for serious running training.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tracks Steps and Mileage Correctly, April 24, 2002
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PE316FM Pedometer with Radio (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this item to track my daily walks. To my surprise, it counts my steps very Accurately. The pedometer, allows you to change the stride distance to match your average step. I used a odometer to measure a mile and then I walked the distance, and set the stride to match the mile. After this was done, the pedometer measures the distance almost to the exact step. I have used it for a month and I have not had any problems with it.
The only reason that I did not give it a 5 star is that the FM radio has a prescan station botton and there are only about 5-6 stations that it will pick up, but it also is determined by your location. I would recommend this product, it has performed very well for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, not so great item, August 1, 2002

Debbie M Braun (Carbondale, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PE316FM Pedometer with Radio (Health and Beauty)
My husband purchased the Pedometer with FM radio for me. I loved it and used it non-stop for about a week. After a week the battery case top fell off so I could not keep the batteries in. The FM radio worked only once - I thought I had a short in the headset. Good idea but really did not perform/last for the money.
