5.0 out of 5 stars excellent device

One friend who worked out daily tested as lean as he should have. The other friends were so impressed with the device that they got the information so they could consider purchasing one online also. 3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to program
I like the product okay, but it is kind of confusing to program the settings. It uses centimeters for the height and kilos for the weight, which I don't like. I am still working out how to save the settings for each person.

I had my body fat tested by a fitness coach a couple of days before I recieved my PFA. The readings were the same. I then shared the device with some friends. One friend who worked out daily tested as lean as he should have. The other friends were so impressed with the device that they got the information so they could consider purchasing one online also. They liked the idea of testing their body fat % in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

The device comes with instructions. The instructions were a little confusing at first. But, when I just followed the instructions straight through, I was able to learn everything there was to learn about all of the functions. There is also a chart in the instruction booklet that tells how our fat % places.

This review is from: Oregon Scientific PFA112 Handheld Pocket Fat Analyzer (Health and Beauty)
I bought this item a month ago when I started hitting the gym in pursuit of putting on muscle mass, and tons of it. I changed my diet a lot to accommodate the increased energy I need and my main fear was putting on more fat than muscle, so I got this to monitor my body fat on a regular basis. I set it up with ease (instructions are highly understandable) and I also started using it right away! I also let some people I know that are always at the gym test out the BF% feature on this thing and they all said this surprisingly accurate (they expected it to be of low quality because of the size and the price, but they were shocked)! And now I use this every morning before I eat anything and log my process. As I increase my weight I'm assured by this tool that I'm actually gaining muscle mass and not putting on any extra fat. Great buy overall, and I would recommend it to anyone else who is doing something like I am, or just generally monitoring their health.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it Does, July 28, 2006

I have no way to tell if the device is accurate, but it seems to be consistent, and that is what is important.

The device is easy to use and setup, except they should make a bigger point that user 'Zero' does not get their settings saved. That may be why some users were having usability issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty "handy", July 3, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PFA112 Handheld Pocket Fat Analyzer (Health and Beauty)
This handheld analyzer is really easy to use, once you get your personal data entered. I never learned the metric system, so I had to go online to convert my height and weight to metric before I could enter it, but it was still pretty simple. After I got my number, I checked it using the more expensive fat analyzer they have at the gym and my numbers were the same. I now have my whole family entered and we can switch users with the touch of a button. I love it and would definitely recommend it to others.

And when it's just sitting around, it's a clock (so there's that)

3.0 out of 5 stars Fat Analyzer Kit for Home, May 19, 2008
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PFA112 Handheld Pocket Fat Analyzer (Health and Beauty)
Some may ask what is the purpose of a "Fat analyzer", well, from an aesthetical perspective, there is none, for who wants to see regurgitated food? But calmly, this has a medical benefit, as noted Cardiologist Rechter Muerguedorf states, "One can tell a whole history from analysizing Fat, an entire life lies within compressed chunks," that said, this is a great kit. Has a mouth piece in which a person presses their face and induces breathing, after a few moments and loud beeps, the machine gives a detailed report of what the person has consumed within the last twenty four hours. Perfect for diabetics and people who think worms inherit their stomachs.
