Not what I expected, August 15, 2005
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PV100B 3MP Digital Camera with Jumbo Display (Electronics)
I bought this camera for my grandfather because he has bad eyesight and this camera had the largest screen I could find. It soon emerged that the camera was far from ideal. Although it has a very large screen, the screen is of very low quality. It has large, grainy pixels which are quite far apart, and the screen is constantly flickering in brightness, especially when the camera is moved and it adjusts the levels. After taking some photos with it in the zoo, we were dissappointed to discover that the color which came out was terrible. Bright grassy greens became bland pastels. We were able to help improve the color using image editing software, but the problem remains. This occurs because the camera cannot cope well with bright sunlight. Images taken indoors retained good color. Be careful with the flash settings though, unless you want to take pictures of ghosts all the time. The camera was also very slow, and made strange grinding noises from time to time. That said, it still has good detail, and is easy to use. However I was suprised that it was of such a low standard, coming from Oregon Scientific, and if given the choice, I would not buy this camera again.

Great Camera for the Beginner, June 3, 2005
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PV100B 3MP Digital Camera with Jumbo Display (Electronics)
Not a camera buff? This is an easy to setup and use camera. Great for ordinary snapshots at family gatherings etc. No need to spend big bucks on more expensive "mega zoom" cameras unless you are a pro and wish to take a picture of a bear a mile away. For most people, this camera fits the bill nicely. I wish it had come with the SD memory disk though, that would have been a lot easier than taking the camera to a store to see which one fit. Interesting to note, it cost less from Amazon than it did from the manufacturer. I recommend this camera to anyone who has ordinary photo needs and limited photography knowledge/skill.

Received defective.., January 18, 2006
This review is from: Oregon Scientific PV100B 3MP Digital Camera with Jumbo Display (Electronics)
Purchased one for my daughter for Christmas. Immediately had problems, faulty flash. Apparently this isn't just an isolated problem..as I gathered from a customer service technician. But that's just an uneducated guess from the conversation. Didn't need flash for sunlit photos but many were so grainy..many came out okay. Sloooowwww to use except for transferring photos to my computer..that was pretty easy and quick. It was okay for the money for my teenager. Good 1 year warranty as they offered a new replacement, without original packaging. All I had to do was call and they said send it right in for a complete replacement.
