Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Keeping close tabs on your pulse increases the accuracy, safety, and overall efficiency of any workout. This handy gauge from Oregon Scientific, worn on the wrist or around the neck, features a finger pad pulse sensor that delivers fast readings without clunky gadgetry. The unit also includes a 12/24-hour clock with second display and a 30-hour count-up/countdown timer for tracking your exercise regimen. Surprisingly readable, the face features large numbers on an LCD display, clearly marked function buttons, and a pleasant blue backlight. Lightweight and pleasant to use, the unit is weatherproof under normal conditions. Attach to your wrist or clothing with the band or hang it around your neck with the removable cord. Under average use, the battery should last about a year.--Emily Bedard

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this!, May 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Personal Pulse Meter with Clock and Timer (Health and Beauty)
Most of the time, the pulse meter does not read my pulse at all. On the rare occasion that it does manage to give a reading, it gives an absurdly low (and obviously wrong) one. I was looking forward to improving my workout efficiency with this gadget, and am sorely disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the effort!, May 14, 2002

This review is from: Oregon Scientific Personal Pulse Meter with Clock and Timer (Health and Beauty)
I have already quit using the product and now manually count my pulse on my wrist using the second hand of a watch. I was able to achieve reliable readings while sitting still at my desk, but if one is running, bicycling, speed walking, etc. I found it almost impossible to get an accurate reading on a consistent basis. If you want accuracy and convenience, spend more money and get a more complex and reliable monitor.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Personal Pulse Meter with Clock and Timer (Health and Beauty)
I have owned this pulse meter for approximately 2 weeks and I find it to be accurate, but it takes a while for it to give a reading. The first few times I used it, it took over a minute to tell me my pulse. However, the manual does state that when you become used to the correct positioning of your finger on the sensor it will give a result faster. So far, this is true, as within the last 3 days, I have received readings within 10 seconds consistently. Considering the price, it was a good purchase.
