3.0 out of 5 stars Worked great and looked great, then..., December 25, 2011
This review is from: Oregon Scientific RA129 Altimeter Watch (Health and Beauty)
I really liked this watch when I first got it. I got many compliments on how it looks and works. Then, about a week after owning it, I looked down and there was a huge smudge/scratch across the front of it and you could hardly see beyond it. Then the battery died after just 3 months so I replaced it myself. Bad mistake. It has a unique wire structure that holds it together once you get it out and it is impossible to get it lined back up and back into the watch housing tightly. My watch now resets whenever it is bumped. Loved it early, was sad I bought it later on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Totally worthless as an altimeter, July 14, 2010

This review is from: Oregon Scientific RA129 Altimeter Watch (Health and Beauty)
After two days of testing I can confirm that the altimeter is of no value whatsoever to anyone. 186' of climbing up stairs registers as a 12'! 172' of descent registered as 15'. 45' of climbing up stairs registered as 8'. I climbed 55' then stopped for a minute then climbed 40', all up stairs. It registered 8' then became stable for the rest minute then registered 8' again. So atmospheric pressure variation isn't even a small part of the problem. The sensitivity of the device is simply off, and there is no way to adjust it, at least none documented anywhere.
Needless to say an altimeter with an error of over 1000%!! is not of an value to anyone wanting an altimeter. Total piece of junk. This is one of the worst pieces of junk I've ever purchased.
