Product Description

Amazon.com Review

From technology leader Oregon Scientific, this alarm clock not only conveys the precise time of day, but also informs users of current indoor and outdoor conditions. Radio-controlled by the WWVB atomic clock in Boulder, CO, the clock regularly resets for increased accuracy and adapts automatically for daylight savings time. The thermometer function provides climate information for appropriate planning inside and beyond the house walls.

The clock displays time by the hour and minute in 12-hour format. The user selects from four US time zones to match the clock's location for atomic time coordination. . A radio tower icon flashes onscreen when receiving time updates from the WWVB at a 60kHz frequency. A crescendo alarm alerts users, increasing in volume over 2 minutes. A snooze function arrests the alarm for 8 minutes. A calendar presents the month and day of the week in one of three languages: English, French, and Spanish. For weather information, temperatures can be viewed in Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees. The clock measures indoor temperatures ranging from 23 to 122 degrees F, and records maximum and minimum indoor temperature. For outdoor data, Oregon Scientific includes a THN122N sensor. The sensor communicates with the alarm clock at a 433.92MHz frequency from up to 100 feet, registering a range of -22 to +140 degrees F and maximum and minimum temperatures. The clock stands alone or may be wall hung. This item includes two AAA batteries to power the sensor and two AA batteries for the clock. Oregon Scientific offers a one-year warranty. The clock measures 2-9/10 by 7-4/5 by 9/10 inches and the sensor 2-2/5 by 3-3/5 by 4/5 inches. This item weighs 1.1 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

This review is from: Oregon Scientific RMR182A RF Alarm Clock with Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen)
Accurate temperature reads, but the unit can't be too far from the transmitter, otherwise it doesn't work. I've worked out a place for the unit, but it isn't where I wanted it to be.
