Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Translucent plastic, a fluid shape, and rubber feet give this clock a youthful appearance. Additional fun comes from the projection feature, which shines a digital image of the current time onto the ceiling of a dark room. The clock's two-line LCD displays the current time with seconds or calendar date, the alarm set time, and a small outline of the USA which allows time zone selection. Radio signals received from the U.S. atomic clock synchronize this calendar clock automatically. Pressing the snooze button activates for five seconds both the blue HiGlo backlight (a slight hum will be heard) and the projection feature. While the clock illuminates only when activated, keeping the room dark, the projection light can stay on all night when the included power adapter is plugged in. The crescendo alarm starts beeping gently, then builds in intensity. A snooze button gives the option of eight more minutes of sleep (and running for the bus). Measuring 4-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 2-1/4 inches, the clock comes with two AA batteries and a 90-day warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

5.0 out of 5 stars atomic time projection clock ala batman, January 10, 2003
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Radio-Controlled Projection Alarm Clock, Purple (Kitchen)
This is a fun clock. In blue or purple, I have bought two so far.The one I gave as a present was enthusiastically received. With the projection feature, it casts a red Batman-reminicent time signal onto the ceiling that you can read while lying in bed. The time is set nationwide by the Colorado atomic clock which means accuracy. This feature is truly appreciated when your electricity goes out allowing you to reset your other clocks easily! The downside is the illuminated read out doesn't stay lit in your dark room while setting the alarm, unless you press the top again...and again...but this is a minor inconvenience given its other features.(If I bothered to turn a light on, then no problem at all.) The alarm starts with a nice single tone, then progressively adds more beeps. For those whose sensibilities are grated by alarm noise, simply turning it off or snoozing it another 6min or so, keeps alarm irritation in check. I love the colors, and the operation. I'm VERY glad to have this in my home!

4.0 out of 5 stars Seems to work, March 1, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Radio-Controlled Projection Alarm Clock, Purple (Kitchen)
Documentation could use some work. In particular, the simple question of how does one set the clock after putting the batteries in.

After looking thru all the text I finally found it.
So to save you some time here's what you do:

Put in the batteries, place it in an area where the signal strength is good. Leave it there overnight for it to set itself- now why couldn't they just say that as the first thing in the documentation????

The other way to set the clock is to use the manual settings - read instructions.

Projection appears to be good and readable in the dark. In early morning light it is rather faint.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite clock!, August 14, 2003
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Radio-Controlled Projection Alarm Clock, Purple (Kitchen)
Two things.... ONE) This clocks seems to check the shortwave time signal fairly frequently. Most "Radio-controlled" clocks only check once a day... read the specs! You could be off several nanoseconds! So THIS one is MORE accurate! TWO) Don't get the clear one, even though it looks neat. The hyper-bright projector LED shines through the clear one and CAN disturb your sleep. The colored ones mask the LED... believe me, that is better! P
