4.0 out of 5 stars good for self-monitoring a workout
This heart rate monitor is great for someone who wants to be sure they're getting their pulse up where they want it for cardio-based workouts. It's compact and light weight, and it fits a very small wrist (I often have trouble with watch bands not cinching small enough to be secure -- this one stays in place). Note that there is another piece, not pictured here, which...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Quality-Disappointed
Received the product and it doesn't work! I do not know if it's the batteries or anything because it never came on. I tried to open it with my screw driver and the screws won't loose. I unscrewed other watches with no problem (same screw size).

All in all I am very much disappointed in this and I regret purchasing this. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

This heart rate monitor is great for someone who wants to be sure they're getting their pulse up where they want it for cardio-based workouts. It's compact and light weight, and it fits a very small wrist (I often have trouble with watch bands not cinching small enough to be secure -- this one stays in place). Note that there is another piece, not pictured here, which fits around the ribs: it's the bit which transmits heart rate to the wristwatch. This part is a firm plastic/rubber bit that goes over the heart, with an adjustable elastic band to holds it in place. The transmitter is very adjustable, and I can wear it without it slipping, even when I'm jumping up and down on an aerobic step. The watch is programmable so that it will remember the low- and high-end of a range, and will indicate when the wearer is within the range, and beep if the range is exceeded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Fine, April 21, 2008
This review is from: Oregon Scientific SE200-BK SmartHeart Heart Rate Monitor (Health and Beauty)
Notice that a belt with a sensor comes with this wristwatch. Read the manual. It explains that when your skin is too dry no pulse will be transmitted or it will be erratic. Once you begin to sweat, the readings are fine. I have used it at fitness centers and on a hike.

The transmission can be picked up by some treadmills as well as the wrist watch.

It is a great buy.

This product does exactly what it says it does. The only thing that it does not say in the overview is that it has a chest strap. I like the fact that it is water proof, and is very comfortable. I use the alarm on the watch every day. It is very easy to use. This is a very good deal for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars okey, September 7, 2011

It was okay, but the batteries were dead when I got it. I Think there is a better item out there. I just use it as a watch. When I use the chest strap the bpm changes 20-30 beats randomly.

1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult, April 19, 2011

This was purchased 2 months ago and has already cratered! It is extremely difficult to get the battery in place on the watch. After hours of trying to pry the back off, finally able to get the battery in but in doing so the spring was no longer able to keep the battery in place which in turn rendered the whole thing useless. If it hadn't broken it would have been great as it's needed for keeping track of heart rate during exercising.

4.0 out of 5 stars It great buy for the price, December 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oregon Scientific SE200-BK SmartHeart Heart Rate Monitor (Health and Beauty)
I am using this heart monitor from couple of months now and it is working fine. it has basic heart rate monitor features and perfect for someone who just want to check their heart rate while doing cardio exercise. It comes with a chest strap, which i found little small and not enough room to expand so if you are a big guy you may probably have some difficulty putting the chest strap on, also sometime heart rate fluctuates very eaisly even though your workout intensity is same. It may not give as consistent reading as timex ironman series but given this price and if you can ignore those small hiccups, it's a great buy

For the first month it worked great. After a month the heart rate monitor would not read my heart rate properly. After 3 months the watch got stuck and now this thing is worthless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stuck on alarm mode., March 11, 2010

After about 2 weeks of use the watch got stuck on alarm mode, emitting a high pitched alarm warning that no amount of button pressing would get rid of. Very disappointed in this product.
