Bought this item as a replacement one which lasted 6 months. The one prior to that had given me over 2 years of reliable temperature indication. So I thought the prior one was a fluke. I was wrong!! It seems that the new one is the norm.
This new one lasted 10 weeks. The temperature indicator indicates 32 degrees when immersed in water. When the probe is taken outside of the water the indication is correct. It appears that there is something wrong with the probe. Since it is over 30 days since I purchased it from Amazon, I cannot return it.Talking to Oregon Scientific would be a waste of time since I did not buy it from them. Will go back to the normal pool thermometer.

Great product - while they last,

I have used the Oregon Scientific temperature sensors for a number of years and they seen accurate and dependable while they last. I keep one in my pool and another in the spa and they report the temperature to the base unit in my kitchen. But it seems that I am buying one almost every year. They just stop working after a while. I should point out that I live in the desert and these are often in 100 F. or higher temperatures. I keep them dry and replace batteries as required and they are so useful that I am content with replacing them when needed.

I use this temp. sensor to measure my in-ground pool water temp. It is accurate, works great, and as I recently discovered it is very water resistant. The transmitter (i.e., the entire unit including the sensor) was accidentally pulled into the deep end of my pool and it was submerged for at least 20 minutes before I discovered this problem. I was expecting the worst as it has been my experience that most consumer (as opposed to industrial) electronic devices will not withstand being submerged in 6' of treated pool water for any length of time, regardless of their rating and advertised claims to the contrary. I was elated to find that the unit has worked flawlessly since it was withdrawn from the water.

This is a ditect replacement for my remote temperature transmitter that failed after six years in the weather.. The replacement is working perfectly with the inside master unit. I have had no trouble with the new unit now on line in the outside atmosphere. JJW

The unit is what I wanted to monitor my Koi water temp. My last unit lasted 7 years. Great buy and delivered on time.

I have several of these sensors and they work well. Only been about six months in my pool/spa but the salt water doesn't seem to present any problem. The pool cleaner does; it will chew the probe wire and swallow the end, destroying both devices at the same time. They set up easily, make sure the channel is exclusive to one sensor and be sure to reset as stated in the instructions. Batteries still good after six months.

Not perfect, but perfectly adequate,
This review is from: Oregon Scientific THC268 Remote Temperature Sensor (Kitchen)
I used this for my koi pond. It worked perfectly for 2 years, until it fell and now the display doesn't work any more. So don't drop it. Also, someone recommended sealing the joint where the cable comes out of the end of the probe, because sometimes that leaks and then it doesn't work any more.
This product was much better than the Oregon Scientific floating one, which lasted two weeks. It leaked and ruined the inside. I don't recommend that one at all.

I own two of these sensors. They work well with my WMR986. I have had no problems and would recommend this product to those who need it.

This temperature/humidity transmitter works for me either way. In the summer, it is used to monitor swimming pool temperature and in the winter I put it in the barn where I have a bathroom so I can be sure it doesn't freeze out there. It just doesn't have humidity transmitted from the barn. It is used in conjunction with 2 other temperature only transmitters on a 3 channel receiver. The others are in the greenhouse and outside the greenhouse.
