TIMING IS EVERYTHING,
This review is from: Oregon Scientific Travel Clock with Calendar (Kitchen)
We've not missed a tour or a meal with the help of this reliable little travel alarm clock. If getting up is difficult due to jet lag or a too late night, it even offers an extra 8 minutes with a snooze alarm.Space is always a factor when on the go, which is another plus for this clock. It's about 3" by 2", fitting nicely into the palm of one's hand. And, for a small clock it has a get-up-and-go alarm that will awake anyone. It runs on two AAA batteries, and is easily switched between time zones. Plus, there is no annoying tick-tock, tick-tock when you're trying to go to sleep. We're well pleased with its reliability. Time marches on, and so does this Oregon Scientific Travel Alarm.

Best travel clock for sound sleepers.,

This is a wonderful travel clock for sound sleepers. I have used other travel clocks but the alarm failed to wake me up. I am grateful for the previous comments regarding this clock. It is worth the extra money. I have spent so much on travel clocks which were totally ineffective. The clock is small, about 3/4's the length of a pack of cards and about as thick as a pack. When I travel by air I do as current TSA suggests and place the batteries (2 small AAA) in the clock. Thanks to the manufactor and to Amazon and its reviews.

My husband got this as a gift, and I immediately bought one for myself (and other family members). They are great. The alarm starts with one beep and beeps maybe ever 3 seconds for a little while, then the time shortens to 2 seconds, then 1 second. It's a nice gradual way to wake up.
Depending on where you live (if surrounded by mountains, etc) it may take a day to realize day light savings, but you can very easily change the time by an hour or use the time zone button on the back to switch time zones. Now I live outside the continental US so it doesn't have my timezone built in, but you can easily switch to a manual setting. Once you're in manual mode though, it won't try to update itself, so you lose the benefit of the atomic clock feature. I recently lost mine though and will be buying another as it is a great travel alarm and everyday alarm.

... but setting the alarm on this clock was so counter-intuitive that I can't imagine doing it on a regular basis. The buttons are oddly situated so that every time I tried to set the alarm I would inadvertently reset the clock, which overrides the radio-set version and requires you to wait for it to reconnect with the atomic clock. Part of my problem was just that I could only get a moderate signal, but the clock took two full days to catch up with daylight savings time -- what use is a travel clock that takes two days to catch up with you? The clock emits an annoying buzzing sound that required me to keep it in a drawer in order to sleep. I used it for three weeks and during that time the alarm failed to go off at least half the time. I am sure I would have figured out the alarm eventually, but you know, at 11 p.m. when I have to get up the next morning, I don't want to think about these things. I just want a clock that works and does not annoy me. I replaced this with a cheap Timex travel alarm and I am much happier now.

The best travel clock ever.,

This is amazing. The digits are large and legible. It gives you not only the time but also the month and year. At night, just give it a tap and a back-light comes on which is very easy to read in the dark. It uses standard batteries that you can pick up in any drug store or super market. It is very light weight and comes with a protective case for travel. The alarm is very intuitive and easy to set. Finally it has the amazing ability to automatically synch with the atomic clock in Colorado. I checked it against my very expensive atomic watch and it was right on the button. How they can do this for $15 plus shipping is beyond me.

I have carried this little bugger with me in my dobb kit for 7 years now. It is awesome, it always works, never fails to wake me, and keeps perfect time. This is one of those little devices that is basically a one-trick pony; but it does perform that trick exceptionally well! Highly recomended.

Early Failure,

Suboptimal for travel because the display light can be too easily activated with resulting battery drain. The display failed after about two years. This happened while the clock was sitting on my night table and was not the result of mechanical impact.
