This item is impressive with respect to its accuracy in predicting weather, based on barometric pressure and software alone. The visual display is easily read at a glance. And while the exact pressure in millibars or inches of mercury is not displayed, there is a display indicating whether the barometer is rising or falling.

The self-setting feature using the US Atomic Clock is impressive, but sometimes tricky to find a good position for the reception of the signal. However, since the clock provides immediate feedback to the user with regard to the strength of reception of that signal, it is easy for the user to change position or room, till a good connection is achieved. Once set, the clock will keep near perfect time wherever it is placed and will reset to the Atomic Clock automatically if it is in a good reception area, or until one decides to move it to a good reception point again for auto resetting.

The device allows for the connection of multiple thermo-detectors. Thus one can monitor up to 3 different locations in or out of the house, along with the thermometric readings for the place where the clock sits.

The wireless nature of the device allows setting up other thermo-detectors to be a trivial task. Just find the location and hang them up. The clock does the rest of the work.

For those looking for a serious digital read out thermometer and perfectly accurate resetting clock, this item is one that should be considered. At a very reasonable price, the item gives most of the information one would want just before stepping out the door.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bafflingly Accurate, October 11, 2007
This review is from: Oregon Scientific BAR888A Wireless Weather Forecaster w/ Thermometer (Kitchen)
Here in Rochester the weather guy is notorious for being wrong (this is one of the few places you can need a coat one day and go swimming the next). So I figured no machine can beat the weather man. Boy was I wrong. I set the thing up early afternoon and it says that it's going to rain. "Impossible," I thought, "The thing's wrong already!" Lo and behold that evening it got cloudy and started to rain! And it has been consistent time and time again. It can be a little confusing to program, so I suggest you read the directions.

Enjoy this item. Can't seem to regulate the time and the weather is not always as indicated on the forecaster, but the temperature and the remotes do well. Great transaction and items arrived quickly and in great condition
