5.0 out of 5 stars must have
We had two weeks vacation in Oregon and wanted to see the best, wanted to hike and stay at beautiful places. This guide book is just really good organized, has lots of information and tons of nice hikes. We enjoyed every hike and think the maps were really good. We didn't need to buy additional maps. 2.0 out of 5 stars written for the pre GPS era - very old style travel guide
very poor data, the trips and trails are described in a very high level missing valuable information (like places to eat, how to get there with GPS location, history background, seasonal information,...)

5.0 out of 5 stars must have, September 11, 2007

We had two weeks vacation in Oregon and wanted to see the best, wanted to hike and stay at beautiful places. This guide book is just really good organized, has lots of information and tons of nice hikes. We enjoyed every hike and think the maps were really good. We didn't need to buy additional maps. The hikes were beautiful and the places we got to see amazing. Would always recommend it if you have not much time, but want to get a good impression of Oregon. And we will definitely be back to see all the other places from the book we had no time to see anymore. I also loved having some pictures in there, so decisions were easier to make.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by William, February 28, 2011
This review is from: Oregon Trips & Trails (Paperback)
I've bought several books written by William and I've enjoyed them all. From detailed hiking books to stories about building a cabin in the wild to works of fiction. His books inform and entertain and this book is no exception. It's a must for those wishing to visit Oregon and experience the towns and nearby trails but it's also a must for long time residents like me who haven't explored all of the state and enjoy getting out and doing some traveling and hiking in new places.

The River Why, Twentieth-Anniversary Edition

David James Duncan's THE RIVER WHY is the Oregon-lover's question and
William L. Sullivan's TRIPS & TRAILS: OREGON is the answer...

Over 800 tantalizing photgraphs and 110 of the simplest yet
clearest 3-D color maps I've ever seen (and
never gotten lost by), and all embedded in
fascinatingly factual content by
a 5th-generation Oregonian who
has obviously walked the talk.

Don't leave home without it!
