Hey everyone, just an extra note on this cd (now 4 years after my initial review). I did come to discover that this cd is a compilation of nearly all songs from the two recordings Alan made under the Pye label in 1974. A major difference between these songs and his 10 years of previously recorded material is that he is not playing the Lowrey Heritage Organ. He is, instead, playing the Haven organ, which he designed himself to accomodate his aim and expressivity with ever the usual grace and magic. He is, i believe, as on some previous recordings, accompanied by Tony Crombie on drums and possibly Tony Uter on percussion. And i am so happy to say that he is still at it now in 2006!! Check him out,ok? Love you Alan!

Okay yall , I cannot say enough about a person, their genius and life's work, but here is an hour and thirteen minute compilation of some older and newer (standard, broad ranging) tunes whipped up by the man himself, Alan Haven. Alright, he is the incredible organ force behind the score to the film "The Knack and how to get it" composed by John Barry in 1965. Alan was a resident organ player at Annie Ross' London jazz club called "Annie's Room" during the 60's. He did some more organ work on the title scores for " From Russia with Love" and a black comedy shortly after entitled"A Jolly Bad Fellow" (They All Died Laughing), also by Barry. So this cd was compiled in 1997, though there is no date for when it was actually recorded. However, Haven himself has 2 of his own original tracks on it, they are #3 and #7, good stuff. When it comes to improvisation and just mastery of the keys and chords, this guy's got the knack. All in all, if you like the eternal sort of Wurlitzer or Haven organ sound, or fell in love with THE KNACK soundtrack as i did 10 years ago , this is a nice handful of interpretations to have around. Alan, wherever you are, i wish you the best and thank you!!!!!
