Product Description

100 Seeds. Papaver somniferum. Organic White Afghan Poppy. Showy, large, beautiful white blooms make a spectacular display. A garden show-off guaranteed to attract attention. Very Easy! Give rich soil, average water and full sun. Also known as Florist Poppy, Papaver Somniferum BreadSeed poppies produce incredibly showy, large single poppies. The flowers are followed by highly ornamental seed pods that are prized for floral arrangements. The pods are chocked-full of tiny seeds that are perfect for breadmaking and baking. Very easy to grow 1-2 foot plants. Most poppies are very easy to grow. They are a favorite of gardeners in every state for rock gardens, flower beds, containers, and most anyplace that you want color. Since poppies are self-sowing, if you allow them to go to seed you may only need to plant them once. 100 count poppy seed pack. I also received a 'gift' sample, and that was a great bonus!

After following the instructions for germinating the seeds, none of them sprouted.

I've never had a problem growing from seeds but these did not do well.

I have emailed the seller for pointers on how to succeed with these and never heard back. I tried sowing directly on the ground but they never germinated. I ordered more and started them in peat pots, some germinated, some did not, but those that did died soon after. The white Afgans never germinated, but the Pepperbox "gift" seeds did and a few of the Neons did. I was careful not to overwater so I'm not sure what the problem was. Everything came carefully packaged with instructions but I could not get the seller to respond to my questions. I would order from them again, but not until I get my germination issues sorted out.

If I could, I would give this item less than one star. After receiving these seeds, I planted them right away, as it was the optimum weather in my area. After careful watering and tending to the spot, there are zero, zip nada plants. I recommend that if you're interested in growing poppies, purchase them from a local nursery. I've purchased bare root poppies and they have done well. Growing from seeds is apparently not very successful and a waste of money.

I bought three different types of poppies from this vendor, and I think the service merits that I post the review for each purchase.

I ordered Danish Flag, Turkish Black, and Peshawar White seeds. I haven't grown them yet, so I will come back to write reviews after I have. But so far, I have been pleased that:

1. The package arrived three days earlier than anticipated.

2. It came in a bubble-wrapped envelope, and each of the seed packets were labelled.

3. The order was hand-signed and personalized.

4. I received a bonus packet of seeds (Papaver Rhoeas.)

I literally got more than I expected; I would rate it six stars if I could.

like Pleiades wrote, these are worthless seeds. They quickly shipped and I planted them per directions in the spring, but not a single one aprouted-- and I have two varieties of volunteers.

These white poppy seeds are very small and you get more than it looks like in the small package. Germination rates for me were 83%.
