A bit misleading,
By R. Eberhard "Eclectic Studio" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Organic Beaded Jewelry (Paperback)
Whilst this is a lovely book for a beginner, I fail to see what is "organic" about stringing Pearls, Crystals, Beads together. Simply calling a Bracelet made of glass, silver, crystal beads "Desert Blooms" does not make it organic! It should have been called Mixed Media as it does do a good job of showing you Polymer Clay, some river stones and glass work. THe majority of the Organic looks are achieved from Polymer doing what it does best - imitating nature. THe book is nicely set out, clear instructions and supplies list. I was expecting this book to be on using Organic items such as Twines, Seeds, Pods etc. A bit misleading, however I am still happy I purchased it.

very misleading......,
This review is from: Organic Beaded Jewelry (Paperback)
I purchased this book online from the title alone and was very disappointed. In this age of "green" living, and with the title ORGANIC, I was expecting a book on using natural materials, reusing older pieces, or at the least jewelry that is more simplistic in form. This is not at all what you will find in this book. The vast majority of projects are material heavy projects, featuring the only "organic" materials listed-real gemstone new beads.
While the projects are pretty, they are fairly complex for all but the more advanced beader, and are QUITE expensive to make. The author even puts the material costs in each project. The cheapest one listed is $25 (all polymer clay), with the majority being in the $50-$100 range! Unrealistic and out of the cost bracket for all but the wealthiest crafter. I would not recommend this book.

Pretty but Complicated,

This book is fun to look at, and the items are quite involved. Not exactly what I wanted from the title. These pieces are complicated, and use expensive beads, etc. I will look at it from time to time, but cannot get any real practical instruction from it.
