Fantastic!,
This review is from: Organic Chemistry (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
This book has helped me master the material of organic chemistry. It was very easy to read, the organization was awesome, and instead of asking you to memorize reactions, it explained them! This books also has a solution manual where EVERY QUESTION FROM EACH CHAPTER is answered, with comments and mechanisms showing you how they got to the solution. The author has obviously put in a lot of effort for this book and I am incredibly grateful. A++ (P.S. The book I own is the sixth edition).

Best college textbook I've had,
This review is from: Organic Chemistry (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
I actually had the pleasure of having Paula Bruice as my Organic Chem professor for most of this year, and her class was taught almost straight from her book, which was a very good thing. Studying for tests was a breeze as in most chapters she sums up all the reactions you need to know very concisely, and if you're still unsure of something, then you can always go back and read about it in the text, where she writes in plain English, but is sure to cover all of the details.
I had another O Chem professor later in the year who did not go off of the book as strictly as Bruice did, but whenever I was confused on a topic it was easy to just go back, read about it and study off of what was written in the book and I managed to pull straight A's in O Chem. If this text is your required reading then you're in good hands, and even if it isn't, I'd recommend buying a cheap used copy just to supplement your lectures or other readings. I'm definitely keeping my copy until I'm done with the MCAT as this book makes everything clear and concise.

Awesome Textbook,
This review is from: Organic Chemistry (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
This textbook is so good. It has a really good way of explaining concepts and is easier to understand than any chemistry textbook I've ever had. It is the reason that I got such a good grade in Orgo this semester! Great ways of explaining how to tell the differences between R and S, Hoffman elimination and how electronegativity is the reason for everything. Also- love the funny pictures of famous chemists on the side. And just when your about to die from studying in the library for ten hours, there will be a random section about how chocolate is a possible health food because of the organic compound and antioxidant catechins.
If it wasn't obvious, I am up late studying for my final tomorrow and feeling really thankful for this book.

This book is invaluable!!!,
This review is from: Organic Chemistry (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
This is the book that I used during my two-semester Organic Chemistry sequence and it proved invaluable. Organic Chemistry is a difficult topic for most people to grasp but Bruice makes this substantially easier. There are plenty of explanations and mechanisms for everyone reading it to comprehend. I am currently in Biochemistry and I often refer to this book to review mechanisms of certain reactions. Along the way, you'll notice that Bruice has included boxes that relate the organic chemistry reactions to the real world which makes the material more palatable. This is a book that will definitely be worth keeping if one plans to continue on, in say biochemistry or even pharmaceuticals. Additionally, this book is more than adequate in preparing for the organic chemistry seen on the MCAT.

Exactly what I wanted,

Book was a much better price than the local bookstore, and the "good" condition only translates to a few minor dents in the cover and maybe a folded page or two. Perfect for any college student

The pointy end of the textbook racket.,
This review is from: Organic Chemistry (6th Edition) (Hardcover)
It would've been nice if this had cost an order of magnitude less. Unfortunately, I, as a student, have no choice in what books I buy, and that's probably why textbooks have such abusive prices. My only choice is who it is that gets to gouge well north of $100 for something that costs around $10 to print; in any case, when class starts, I must have the book--and looky here, it's a new edition. It was this (~$160) or the campus bookstore (~$250). Either one was going to put a nasty dent in my wallet. I suppose it could've been worse.
