Great alternative for the hardback version,

This review is from: Organic Chemistry (Paperback)
When I saw this paperback version, I was a bit skeptical. But when I had browsed through it, its great. 1) Its a great deal for your wallet, 2) it has essentially all of the same material as in the hard back version, 3) it is much lighter and easier to carry around than the hardback version.
The disadvantages of having the paperback version is that 1) it is in all black and white, so if you're a visual learner it might not work well for you, especially with the space filling models...you will not be able to tell the electronegative regions (red) from the electropositive regions (blue. 2) It is in paperback, so if you like to rough up your text books, this one will wear down more easily. 3) Instead of getting the nice glossy pages with the hardback, you get the phonebook texture paper. Overall, I like the paperback version, it takes a little getting used to, but it is really nice and helpful if you can get a good copy. The material itself is pretty helpful for organic chemistry, but I will admit, I find Organic Chemistry by McMurry to be a little more easy to follow. |
