The Dagoba 59% Dark Organic Chocolate is the best dark chocolate I've ever had. A recent dark chocolate tasting contest conducted with a group of San Francisco food critics concurred.

I find the 59% to be much better tasting than the 73% version, and light years ahead of the bitter, sour 87% bar (which finished next to last out of about 17 bars in another recent taste test where the bars were unmarked so the testers didn't know which was which). At 59% the dark, bittersweet taste is still strong, but not overwhelming, allowing the other subtle flavors to come out. And with enough sugar to have a pleasant sweetness.

I recommend eating it in small pieces, allowing it to melt in your mouth. Eating it too quickly will deprive you of much of the enjoyment. I eat only 1/3rd of a 2 oz bar a day.

Dagoba is very serious about the organic aspect of their products, going to great lengths to insure that all of the ingredients are true organics.

My only cautionary note is that if you buy twelve bars of it and slowly consume it, savoring the taste. Then after a month or so, you pick up a common chocolate bar, that bar is going to taste like a piece of chocolate flavored wax. This Dagoba stuff will spoil you.

If the 87% cacao is too much for you, then try this lighter version. A great price for a box of bars, and something that's good for the brain and the soul. Dagoba uses pure, organic Chocolate. A great indulgance!
