Definitely Unique,

Just a quick summary: Freak Kitchen is a three-piece band with not only amazing musicianship and Steve Vai-style guitars, but a wonderful sense of humor and intelligent lyrics which are often hilarious as well. Musicians will appreciate this album for the writing and performance, but it's also pretty accessible and catchy. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly good -- in a Mr. Big, King's X, Zappa and Extreme sort of way,

I was leery of Freak Kitchen. The name, alone, turned me off. I thought the group would be another modern day heavy metal band big on the wall of sound guitar tone and screams but woefully short on talent and chops.Freak Kitchen's music caught me off guard, in a positive way. Organic isn't as riff-oriented as their earlier albums. But it's still full of tasty solos and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. In a way, something about this reminds me of the groups Mr. Big, King's X, Zappa and Extreme. Not sure why. Some of this frenetic stuff gets tedious after awhile. Mussolini Mind, for example, gets old fast. But then comes Guilt Trip and Becky and my ears get a welcome change of pace. The vocals (especially some of the layered harmonies) and some of the guitar tones are reminiscent of King's X. Yet, the vocals wear on me after awhile, too. Overall, I think Freak Kitchen has a ton of talent and a unique sound. The guitarist is a monster. But the humorous, fast-paced lyrics are an acquired taste that I haven't yet acquired. Still, for a band with the unlikely name of Freak Kitchen, it's all good. Recommended.

If you love heavy rock...this album will not dissapoint you. No holds bar lyrics which is sometimes funny plus cynical..but with a serious undertone and also serious guitar work. If you only knew Yngwie, Steve Vai or Joe Satriani..then met guitar god Mattias 'IA' Eklundh. Very nice..lightning fast guitar work..with Mattias signature wailing tremolo. You'll gonna love everybit of this album..except the dissapointing fact is that...there isn't any DVD that comes with this album. Amazon sent me a replacement..but again...NO DVD...:(

If you are a fan of heavy guitar rock and have never heard Freak kitchen this albulm is a good start. It is very heavy indeed, yetthe music is very smart and melodic at the same time "Ia's" guitar work is nothing short of brilliant showcasing lightning fast legato runs, crisp out of this world harmonic savagry and it even has a guest guitar solo from Ron Thal (aka Bumblefoot}check this stuff out you won't be sorry!
