Product Description
San-J International, Inc. is dedicated to the manufacture of premium Tamari soy sauce and quality Asian-inspired products. We endeavor to produce excellence in our products and services. San-J founder, San-Jirushi Corporation of Mie, Japan, began selling Tamari in the United States in 1978 as an importer to natural food and industrial food markets. Tamari quickly proved itself to be desirable to American tastes and San-Jirushi decided to build a plant to brew Tamari in North America. In addition to the production facilities, San-J's administration, research and development and sales and marketing departments are headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.

I am not sure what the other reviewer is referring to but the Organic Gluten Free Tamari travel packs are gluten free. I almost didn't order this because of the reviewer. I rushed to my pantry and pulled out the bottle of Tamari that I have to cook with and could find nothing that the reviewer referred to as having wheat in it. I have a gluten allergy. I am bummed when I go out for sushi & the establishment does not carry Tamari (wheat free soy sauce) so I usually fill a little container from home when I go out for sushi (often). When I saw the travel packs I was thrilled and ordered it. On the packaging, it states that it is certified gluten free. The ingredients are: Water, Organic Soybeans, Salt, Organic Alcohol. I give this 5 solid stars.

We received these beautiful packets of soy sauce this month, April. However, the 'best by' date on the package is October 2011. Considering there are more than two hundred packets, I was definitely hoping the flavor would stay optimal a lot longer than that. Or if they were sold in smaller packages, it would be a good compromise.

The ability to get gluten-free soy sauce in individual packets is great. But I was a little stunned to stock up on the bulk size of 240 packages, only to discover when they arrived that they all expire in two and half months. Not impressed with that aspect of the product.

Gluten Free heaven
This product is so great for me to take along to sushi bars. It is so convenient. I keep them in my car and (carefully separate from other items) in my purse.
