Every nursing mother should know about this!!!,
By I read about Fenugreek seed and couldn't find it, but stumbled upon this tea. Within 24 hours I was so engorged that I had to pump!! I now still use it just to be able to store up frozen milk for when my husband and I go out or I run an errand and don't want to have to find somewhere to nurse. My milk supply now doesn't even begin to run out when I use the pumped milk and skip nursing. I wish that I could tell every mom about this. I think less women would give up on nursing due to lack of milk, if they knew about this tea! And it's so inexpensive. I drink at least 2 cups a day. I love the taste. It's sweet and minty. I just add a little sugar.

I wish I would have known about this with my first child!
I successfully breastfed my first child for three years but also had the luxury of staying home with her. Returning to work after my second child has been a little easier in knowing that I can still provide pumped breast milk for him! I tried this tea in hopes that it would both help with my supply when I cannot be home and with my letdown while pumping. So far a success! I drink three cups daily. I try to drink a cup about a half hour before pumping while at work, as well! It helps tremendously! For those of you who are truly committed to breastfeeding this product is very much a help!!

I like the Organic Mother's Milk tea very much. It has helped increase my milk supply which is typically low. The flavor is just fine if you like herbs. I add a little splenda to mine to sweeten it up. If you drink the recommended maximum of five cups per day it also has the added benefit of increasing your intake of liquids which is important when nursing. I have also noticed that the smell of the tea does not come out through my pores much like the fenugreek supplement did which I have taken in the past. The only problem I have with it is that is quite expensive if you decide to drink it during your entire nursing experience. Thus, that is the reason for 4 stars. However, I would highly recommend it.

My daughter is 2 months old and began using this product when she was 5 weeks old. I had a hard time producing enough milk for her. I would only pump about 1-1/2 oz per session; now I am pumping an average of 2-3 oz.

After several issues including cracked nipples, poor latch, problems pumping, and a fussy baby I decided to start to ween at 3 weeks. By the time she was 4 weeks old I was down to two nursing sessions a day and supplementing with formula for the rest. Then, as I healed and felt less stress about nursing the whole process got easier so I decided to try to increase my nursing/pumping sessions and decrease her formula intake. Unfortunately, by that point I could only pump 1/4 ounce per breast and she was easily taking in 3 ounces per session with the bottle. I ordered a case of this tea and took the recommended dosage for 2 weeks without success. Then I tried increasing the dose to two bags at a time, 4 times a day. You do have to take the time to steep it corectly (10 minutes, covered). I saw minimal results after increasing the dosage which could have also been attributed to increasing the number of pumping sessions or additional water intake per day rather than the tea. If you're used to herbal teas you probably won't mind the taste too much. It's rather nice with a bit of milk and honey added in. It does smell faintly of black licorice, but I never noticed it in the flavor. After I finished off the case of tea I tried fenugreek capsules and saw a bit better improvement in supply (an additional 2-3 ounces per day). I can now pump about 4-6 ounces a day (up from a total of 2 ounces a day when I first started) while I'm at work and I nurse her at the start of every feeding at home. I still need to supplement with formula since she'll now take in between 4-6 ounces at a time at 3 months old. I wish I was one of the lucky ones to see an increase of 6-8 ounces per feeding/pumping session, but I'm happy that I was able to bring my supply back as much as I have. Now I'm combining Blessed Thistle with Fenugreek to see if I can get any additional output. 15 pills a day has been challenging for me, particularly since I'm not the best at swallowing them. I'm trying to hang on to my supply, as low as it may be, as long as I can though. So, for me it's worth it. Definitely give the tea a try if you're having trouble with supply, but just know that it has such low doses of the herbs that it isn't effective for everyone. If you don't have success with the tea it's worth trying out fenugreek and blessed thistle too.

It really works,

I've always had problems pumping enough milk from the very beginning. I went from pumping around 3 ounces at work to 4 or even (sometimes) 5 ounces. I've always aimed to get 3 pumps of 4 ounces each and I was always coming up way short. Now, I have enough to give my son extra milk each day.
I can tell that I get more milk after I've had some tea verses when I've had very little tea. I have more milk at noon with the tea, than in the morning after hardly any tea. I have more milk later in the week after 3 days of tea, than on Monday morning after a weekend of no tea. I usually have to have 3 to 5 cups of tea a day. You do get used to the taste. The only side effects I have noticed is that it makes me thirsty (more than likely from producing more milk), it gives me hot flashes, and it makes my son's toots really smelly. :) |
