Editorial Reviews

Since the release of Organik, Robert Miles seemed to hang up the wide-angle trance of his hit "Children" and focus on releasing music that's more challenging and esoteric. It's a great move since Miles has a knack for atmosphere, and the remixers on Organik Remixes notice it. Tracks come and go with few melodies to latch onto, but it doesn't seem to matter when a whole slew of well-constructed and innovative sounds fall out the speakers. Organik gets quite a work over with only traces of exotic instruments left over and ends up more paranoid and jarring than the original. Si Begg, 2nd Gen, and the Fabrics make Miles sound especially freaky and deviceful, while Riton paint him as the older brother of Red Snapper. The Future Sound of London mix is a letdown, but the two remixers that were chosen from an Internet contest (Kuzu and Fissure) hold their own against the superstars. Two CDs long, disc two is far better, and the whole thing could have fit on one had the enhanced video been left off. Minor quibble for a collection this good. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Follow Up!!, October 1, 2003
This review is from: Organik Remixes (Audio CD)
I will be the first to admit I am Robert Miles fan. I am also the first to admit that Organik made me take a few steps back and reevalutate my commitment to Robert as a listener. It was too advant garde for my liking. The Robert I like produced the beautful sounds of 23AM...not this dark, uncommercial CD. Well what a difference a year makes. Organik is a fantastic CD combining eithnic sounds with electronic dance beats. The remix album continues to keep the same dark and bass sound of the original material but adds the twist of certain artists like Riton or FSOL. Fans should be aware that Robert did not sell out with this release. None of this music sounds like it will be played at my local club BUT that can been good. Different is good!

"This CD is not one where you could say 'hey Robert Miles has a new CD, maybe I'll buy it' or 'heh, new Robert Miles..ORGANIK REMIXES? Can't be that good..remixes are all the same'-trust me on this!!"-John

"MY REVIEW"*~*
Robert Miles' last CD Organik was such a big hit. With The London Session Orchestra, sound effects, drums...it came together so wonderfly. Now Organik Remixes has come out. THIS CD IS AWESOME!!! Full of fun drums, many MANY sound effects, and voices which are light in some places and center attractions for others. If you love REMIXES, especially CLUB REMIXES like I do, this album is perfect for you. It sounds like the perfect Party CD because in a way it is. CLUB MUSIC soars with hard drums, sound effects and keyboards-and this is a great description of Organik Remixes. This CD is also perfect for a huge fan of Robert Miles-add this to your collection!! No matter where you stand for this kind of music..you'll love this-give it a chance!!!It's IMPOSSIBLE NOT to love Robert Miles...and ORGANIK REMIXES!!! THIS CD IS EVEN BETTER THAN IT SOUNDS COMING FROM ME AND THAT IS VERY BIG...SO GET IT TODAY!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good But Still Somewhat Disappointing, November 18, 2003
This review is from: Organik Remixes (Audio CD)
Ok, I've to admit I had better expectations overall for this
'Remixes' CD and unfortunately it fails to deliver in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, it has some good trax on both the CDs but I was expecting more and something different.

CD 1 is my favorite among the two.
CD 2 is just too downtempo and dark sounding for my taste.

Also, the main thing that upsets me is the length of each CD. It's like 1/2 hour on each side. That's ridiculous especially for the import price I paid @ Tower Records. :(

I liked 'Organik' better than this one and hope that the next solo album by Miles is little less dark and more melodic w/ beautiful rhythms and such.
