About the Artist

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, Jason Bodlovich is a versatile multi-instrumentalist (drummer, guitarist and percussionist) who now resides in Sonoma County and performs throughout the San Francisco Bay area. A Sonoma State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in music (jazz emphasis); he garnered various grants, scholarships and honors.

At SSU, Jason studied under Mel Graves, Randy Vincent and George Marsh focusing on both drums and guitar. Soon after graduation, Jason would tour the U.S. and Canada with the San Francisco based ACME Swing Co. as drummer. Jason now maintains a busy schedule of performing, teaching and studio work. Current projects include his jazz bands, The Guitar Duo, Moon Theory and The Magflies. Jason is also on call as a sideman specializing in such styles as jazz, funk, rock, R & B, blues and Latin to name a few. Jason currently endorses AYOTTE Drums and drumsticks.

In 2003, Jason established his own label, Moonrise Records. Jason’s latest release is a tribute to Dexter Gordon, "Blues For Dexter." "Blues For Dexter" is Jason’s second jazz album as a drummer/leader and features legendary bassist, Ray Brown along with Larry Fuller on piano and Jay Thomas on trumpet/tenor sax. Having performed with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, Brown is considered to be one of the greatest jazz bassists of all time and known to be on over 2,000 recordings.
