Fascinating and Applicable To Any Work,

This review is from: Organizational Linkages: Understanding the Productivity Paradox (Hardcover)
I bought this book thinking I would skim through it and cull a few nuggets of knowledge I could use in my work. I knew it was a compilation of material by several researchers and I knew the general concepts it would cover, based on the editorial review and book description. What I didn't realize until I started reading it is that, as complex as the material was in places (way over my head technologically), every page can trigger a thought that is immediately applicable to any workplace and every problem related to productivity, communications, and overall effectiveness. For example, Chapter 11 is about downsizing. However, it applies very well to any organization in which a chasm has developed between executives, managers, supervisors and employees.
The value of the book is not diminished by its 1994 publication date. I thought, for the small amount I paid for it, I wouldn't mind buying it, grabbing a few statements and giving it to the library book sale. Instead, I'm loaning it to a few friends who I know will appreciate it--and I want it back. |
