A Decent Piece of Furniture, A Touch Pricey,

This review is from: Organize It All Hazelnut Storage Bench (Kitchen)
I bought the "Island Collection Bench with 2 Drawers" for my entryway. I have a condo, and I needed a bench for people to sit on and take off their shoes when they come in. I have had it about a week now. Overall I am happy with it. It is attractive, functional, straightforward to assemble, and structurally sound. On the down side, while not flimsy, it still feels a bit like a cheep piece of furniture. I thought $100 was a bit steep.
Assembly is easy; follow the directions, and you cannot go wrong. Everything you need is included except for a philips-head screwdriver. The frame of the bench itself is made entirely of solid wood, which is good because it needs to be sturdy. The flat part on top of the bench is Masonite, though it is reinforced with cross pieces of solid wood, so there is no danger of falling through it. Most of the frame is bolted together using bolts that screw into pre-threaded sockets. The center support is held in place by wooden pegs. The drawers are mostly Masonite. Only their front and back panels are wood. They are screwed together with wood screws. Although the pre-drilled guide holes make assembling them easy, you will probably only be able to assemble them once; do not count on being able to repeatably assemble and disassemble this piece for shipping. One really nice feature that is not obvious from the picture is that the drawers and bench are symmetric. The bench looks the same from either side and the drawers can be pulled out from either side, so you could put this in the middle of a large entryway. My only major complaint is the cheapness of the rattan and the amount of Masonite. When assembling the drawers, I had them face-down on carpeting. The rattan splintered extremely easily when they slid around. The damage was not terrible, but my bench no longer looks brand new. While the critical portions of the bench are wood, and I feel there is little danger of it collapsing, the use of Masonite for the drawers gives this bench a cheap feeling. For $100, I would have like something slightly more substantial, so only four stars out of five. Make this $80 (or less) and it gets 5 stars.

Cute, but you have to assemble yourself... a bit stiff getting drawers in and out, but I like the color and bamboo design. The cushion is covered in white muslin which comes all wrinkled and too loose on the padding..also could have used a darker shade of white.. overall pretty good. Don't know if I would have bought it if I saw in person though...partical board (or similar) used in the bottom of drawers so can't put too much heavy stuff in them-- and we bought for storing shoes by the front door.

We love target and always purchase here. however, this bench is cheap! As soon as my husband put it together, one of the drawers broke (on the outside where you can see it). Also the drawers do not close properly and the cushion is cheap looking. The bench is also not very sturdy. I know it was only the price but it's not even worth that.

I picked up this bench from our local Target. I orginally bought it for a shoe/mudroom bench. When we moved into our new home, my husband put it at the end of our bed.Every morning, the kids sit on it and watch tv until we wake up. I store blankets in one side and undergarments in the other. It is long enough for my 3 year old to lie down on, or 2 kids can comfortable sit on to watch tv or put on shoes. It would work excellent for a mudroom bench for shoes. Don't worry about the size. It is not dinky and it is very sturdy. We thought it was a very wise buy!!!

The bench is not functional. Break easily. The cushion is cheap, cover shrinks when washed.Strongly recommend not to buy.

I had my eye on this bench for my front hallway for awhile. I finally bought it last week on sale. My husband put it together easily. The trouble came when you sit on it. The top only is a cheap thin piece of wood (which I didn't pay attention to originally). Of course it cracked after 5 days. It was cracked by just sitting and changing shoes (the person only weighs 195 lbs.). Now I have to return it and find something as cute but made better.

good piece, cushion is a little cheap looking, but is a sturdy piece and looks nice in my doorway and holds plenty of shoes in the drawers. was easy to put together, in about 1 hour.

We needed something with storage and our dogs could use to look out the window. It's perfect for both of our needs, nice amount of storage space in the two drawers and the right size for our two jack russell/mix dogs to survey and keep guard of the house. It was very easy to put together and held my 235 lbs without falling apart.

I bought this bench, along with the 5-drawer chest and 2 end tables this week. I was looking for something stylish, but didn't have a lot of extra cash to spend. I had some trouble assembling the drawers, but my boyfriend had them together in no time, so it may have just been my lack of experience. We're using the bench as a coffee table. The cushion looks kind of cheap, so I'll recover it to go with our sofa. My only other complaint is that you can see the particle board (or whatever that stuff is) sides through the slats in the wood. But I think it's definitely a good deal for the money!

VERY easy to assemble, somewhat lightweight,

I was so happy with how easily this bench went together that I actually searched for a Furio website so that I could complement them on the excellent instructions, the simple assembly and the nice bench. (Couldn't find a site but here I am now telling Target!)
I admit that I haven't actually sat down on the bench yet - it doesn't seem like it can be all that sturdy since there is no support all the way to the floor in the middle....
I'm going to use it in the mudroom mostly for storage - I don't anticipate a lot of sitting.
