Format: Paperback
I guess I'm not as enamored with this quick read as other reviewers, maybe in part because few of the ideas are new to me.

Drawing on modern understandings of complexity, the author recommends that organizations have a relatively decentralized non-hierarchical network structure which is dynamic, so that it can flexibly adapt to and be 'pulled' by changing market conditions, with individual and collective learning being continuous processes. The emphasis is on social aspects, teams, collaboration, and group/organizational performance, rather than incentivization or evaluation of individuals. The role of leadership is to foster all of this, along with much attention to helping bring the right people into the organization, rather managing top-down with a heavy hand.

This is all fine, but I think the author sometimes pushes these ideas to a radical extreme (eg, no overtime pay or bonuses), without presenting evidence that doing so will work in practice. And I suspect that the zingy style of the book is also motivated by the author's desire to promote himself as an organizational consultant.

So overall, I'd say that the book has good ideas, but somewhat overstated and overhyped. Read with an open mind, but also take things with a grain of salt. Don't get overexcited and start changing everything tomorrow.

Is a Good book. Soft, Fast and inspirate. Not has intending to be deep, but to plant a seed of unconformity. Have very friendly graphics, and Insights generous. I recommend it Yes. I don't give five star, because i wanna more, including tools and tips.

If you are at all in doubt about buying this book - don't be. If you are thinking about how to improve the community or corporation you work int - buy it.

It is also a fast read which is very welcome in the networked age and too many books to keep up with. The pictures with the text are clear, to the point and actionable.

Thank you Niels!

"Organize for Complexity" is a different kind of book within the organizational development genre. It challenges the dogma of Tayloristic management in a lighthearted and thought-provoking way. The book doesn't take an overly deep or prescriptive approach to the organizational complexity theories that it references. It pulls off a high-level synthesis extremely effectively and intentionally. Readers who are beginning their exploration into this area will find these ideas accessible and compelling. Readers with greater familiarity in this area will love the nimble connections that Niels Pflaeging makes and will find many valuable examples of how to communicate these challenging approaches with impact. Highly recommended!

I am an HR professional and an agile coach. I found Niel's book while I was interested in agile organizations. What I liked about the book is both its design and function. It is legible due to brief and clear messages ornamented with visuals. However this doesn't guarantee that anyone will easily agree with the propositions. Because it is provoking and inspiring. Niels show us the light far from the conventional wisdom about organizations. This book is a manifesto for agile organizations. It is a reference for leaders, business consultants, HR professionals, organizational development specialists, who look for the secrets of an agile organization where collaboration, customer satisfaction, employee retention, effectiveness and efficiency increases.

It was a disappointment to find out that the ebook version is very low quality edition.

I've been waiting for a while for the release of the kindle version. It was a disappointment to find out that the ebook version does not work as expected. It is not possible to change de the size of the fonts. Even worse: it is not possible to highlight text.
