4.0 out of 5 stars does what it says on the tin
these are exactly as advertised and arrived promptly and correctly. Too bad they don't install themselves! I'm still working on getting them fitted to all of my cupboards, drawers, etc... but the ones that are done DO work. My little one yanks as hard as she can on the cupboard door and it doesn't open.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Sturdy
These work great until they break. We have some that have stayed for a several months, but most of them broke immediately. Plus they are so long that toddlers can easily get their hands in and unlock them, easier than adults can. Try using the shorter and wider locks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Affordable Cabinet Locks, April 13, 2010

We have a very inquisitive one year old who likes to get into everything. These locks were very easy to install, but some of the screws completely stipped as we were installing them. Luckily we have plenty of screws in all sizes, so this wasn't a problem for us. I like the length of the locks. The cabinets don't open enough for her to get anything, but they open enough that our 5 year old can open them easily.

These work very well at keeping kids out of cabinets. Once your child reaches 2, they may be able to figure out how to work these if they are mechanically inclined.

Be sure to pre-drill holes for the screws. And even then, the screws can be difficult to tighten. Start with an out-of-the-way cabinet so you can learn in how to install them - you'll want to be careful not to pre-drill too keep or it will go all the way through the cabinet door!

2.0 out of 5 stars good value for price, December 6, 2010

I bought two sets of latches - these ones and from SafetyFirst. The good news about these latches is that you can use them sometimes without the small piece - the hook can just grab on the material of the cabinet.
But the screws are very very bad. They are made from a very soft material and very small. Even when I pre-drilled holes for them, I was stripping 80% of the screws. Screws from Saferyfirst are much bigger (which can be a minus in tight spaces), and much more durable. Unfortunately Safetyfirst latches did not work in all combinations of drawers/doors I have in my house.

I recommend to get real steel screws when using these latches.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!, November 2, 2010

Once my daughter reached her first birthday, she started becoming very inquisitive. Initially this did not concern me too much, until she started covering her head in night fade cream. As I started my search for cabinet locks, I was surprised to see the photos of thoroughly confused looking four year olds attempting to open cabinets on the product packaging.

I purchased this product and commenced to install the first ones on the cabinets underneath the kitchen sink. My one year old daughter watched as I did this. I had a smug look on my face as I finished. I stepped back to see what I thought would be the look of utter confusion on my daughters face as she struggled with the door. Unfortunately, she opened it a couple of inches and pulled the latch down and opened the cabinet wide thus exposing the harmful household chemicals that I futilely attempted to protect her from.

I would suggest finding some other way to keep your chidren out of your cabinets.

1.0 out of 5 stars This product is terrible, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Organize.com Child Safety Latches, 12 Pack (Kitchen)
We were given this product by my father-in-law for our drawers and, even before our son had a chance to try and break into a drawer, the hook had already broken off of the latch. As well, the hook has pretty much nothing to latch onto at all. My son, had he had a chance to try it, would have been in that drawer in no time. Not a good buy.

I couldn't find these gadgets in the stores...so was glad I found them on line. They are more than I hoped to pay for them but I felt I did't have a choice.
