5.0 out of 5 stars Husband Loves it!
I purchased this fishing pole rack for my husband for Valentinesday and he loves it. It matches my cherry hardwood floors perfectly eventhough is says it's walnut...it's very sturdy and well made. I would like to note that if you plan on putting poles with the reels on them in the rack it greatly reduces the amount of poles it will hold. We can only fit 8 rods and reels...

2.0 out of 5 stars not suitable for all rods
For rods with 24" or longer handle, you cannot fit in this rod holders. Your rods have to sit on the floor and the clip may not be big enough to hold your rod.

I would like to note that if you plan on putting poles with the reels on them in the rack it greatly reduces the amount of poles it will hold. We can only fit 8 rods and reels in the rack but that's fine with us. I guess you could put them in sideways but it wouldn't look as nice. All in all we are really impressed!

3.0 out of 5 stars READ FIRST before attempting assembly! 16 pole Rod Rack, November 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Received my (made in China) Wood Rod Rack on Thanksgiving Day (bless those UPS drivers) and proceeded to assemble it while watching football... (I was going to order a similar rack from West Marine for $89.00 (1/2 off price) until I saw this one. I noticed some reviews here that were complaining of the "cheap Pine wood" used, but decided to order and return it, should it really suck).

Well, the first thing you MUST DO before starting assembly is check how all your pilot holes line up with each piece you need to attach it to. Almost all my pilot holes weren't drilled correctly, so they wouldn't align with the other holes; plus you need to go one drill-bit size bigger on the holes the screws are screwed into. The soft pine will split when you try and screw the screws into the holes that are pre-drilled! (The screws are too big for the pilot holes).

The wood dowels used to center each piece during assembly and the wood plugs that are used to cover the screws are too small for the holes the factory pre-drilled... (they don't fit snug in the hole, so someone used too big a drill-bit when drilling these holes!) Hilarious!

They still work, a bit sloppy... but no quality control on all counts!

All in all, it will get my fishing rods organised & off the garage floor, so I guess it was worth the money, but check all the holes for alignment prior to assembly!

Happy Turkey Day!

Dave

Have not put it together yet but it doesn't seem complicated at all and the quality of the wood seems top grade.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Shabby, October 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was overall pretty dissappointed with this item. It appears to be made of pine and showed up pretty scracthed up. Putting it together was easy enough but the construction was not as tough as I thought it was going to be. Parts of it appears chipped and looks like someone used wood filler to fill in the chips. Pretty sad acutally. The rod holders are simply stapled into the wooden frame. Hopefully this holds up over time. I thought I was getting a great deal but quality and poor workmanship puts this as a thumbs down. I would not buy again. I should've spent a little more on a nice rod rack from elsewhere. I gave it two stars because it is functional but barely. I'm using it for now but can see it might need to be replaced down the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the fisherman that has everything, January 16, 2011

Great gift idea for the fisherman who has everything
I purchased this item for my brother-in-law (along with a great tackle box and collapsible wagon to transport fishing and picnic items across the beach)
Most fishermen are usually organized when they out fishing (tackle boxes etc) but once back home the poles are just leaned against the wall - subsequently, making more work when collecting rods and reels for the next fishing trip
This item was used immediately and the clutter was solved!

I found this product to be super easy to assembly, very sturdy once assembled, not wobbly at all. Will easily hold rod and reel combos, both spin and baitcasters. Nice quality for the money. I liked it so much purchased a second one.
