Best Hip-Hop Album Of All Time. Bar none.,
By Nastradamus (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
10 out of 5 stars is ripping it off really badly. It's better than that.No lyric is out of line, no beat is misplaced. It's perfect. Monch pretty much put himself into the top 10 with this CD itself. Example? Sure: "I am one who is one with all things, thus the unorthodox I am The paradox I am, the equinox extending my hand into dimensions to unlock new doorways And so the light has revealed to me that there must be more ways And so I play with rhythms, for something more than a mere game enabling me to advance in wisdom Words will exist like vampires No need for sunlight, from concentrations camps I escape with my sanity -- in 2010 every man will be subject to global warming, formless oval Millions of locusts swarming Seek and you shall find the deliverer of a rhyme the intelligent one, utilizing the mind third vision Surrounded by a three-sided figure, containing the brain The triggering mechanism from which I strike sight beyond sight, sound beyond sound which comes from below the magma, the granite, the ground The surface will seperate, dispersing harmful ashes Your optics will not be able to detect the deadly hypnotical gases Damn it's hard to breathe!!! But if I got one breath left; I'll suck wind from the valley of death, here I come from the slums of earth to center I reveal myself as a beast within a, unbreakable shell Walkin through the doorways of Heaven -- or is this Hell?" Say someone comes along using the ever popular "anyone can rap" statement. Equiped with "Organized Konfusion" in hand, flash it to them. This will hypnotize them into liking rap now, and retracting them from such ignorant sayings. Go buy it. Put down the Doritos, turn off the computer, and run over to Best Buy. What are you waiting for!?????????

Pharoahe's Phinest,
By Jesse Meyerson (Philadelphia, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
Pharoahe Monch and his partner in rhyme, Prince Poetry come correct on this early 90's debut. This CD has it all. If you like relevant, conscious hip-hop from back in the day, like the Native Tongues, then you will really like this CD. If you like old school party anthems, this album has something for you too.Such politically juiced songs as "Prisoners of War", "Releasing Hypnotical Gases" , and "Open Your Eyes" are insightful to the national scale of the problems we all face, even over a decade later. And closer to home, "Rough Side of Town" and "Roosevelt Franklin" are tales from the hood, but don't think it's hard core posing and wannabe gangsta-ism, it's more of a social commentary. There are some pretty funny jauns on this album too, like "Who Stole my Last Piece of Chicken?" and a lot of skits and funny one liners, and there are some head nodders, with great lyrical dexterity, such as "Walk into the Sun", "Organized Konfusion", and the aptly titled "Audience Pleasers". If you liked Simon Says and maybe even got Internal Affairs, or just heard of Pharoahe Monch, you should get this CD right now, highly recommended. This is the Pharoahe at his best and you can definitely see how he developed as an MC, and his influences from

Prince Poetry and Pharoahe Monch = HIP-HOP GODS,
By
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
I find "Organized Konfusion" (1991) to be one of the most rewarding listens to grace the hip-hop lexicon. Prince Po and Pharoahe Monch redefined lyricism with their relentlessly impenetrable styles. Whether it be odd time signatures, pitch fluctuations, or break-neck speed; these guys possessed all the skills to execute a brutal, but conscious gem that will live on forever. "Organized Konfusion" is arguably the first "underground" hip-hop album that was ever released due to it's cult status that has lived on since day one. At first, I wasn't sure if this was East Coast or West Coast rap. The brutal delivery and strong mic presence led me to believe that it was East Coast at first (which it is). On the other hand, they have such refined styles, and the ability to change pitch and tone in a piercing manner, even singing for a second or two at a time. They simply had flair and style that they pushed like West Coast emcees would. But no, this is seriously the best of both worlds. The album is superb from front to back, and well worth several full listens. In recent memory, I can't remember getting more excited while listening to an album than I have "Organized Konfusion". Hands down, in my top 5.

They Finally Fixed The Poor Sound Quality!,
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
I've wanted this album for so long, but held off due to the negative reviews complaining about the poor sound quality. I finally caved in and ordered it anyway, and I'm glad I did - it plays perfectly out of BOTH speakers. I even tested it on three different CD players and it plays perfectly with absolutely zero problems. If you've wanted this album but held off for the same reason as I did, the coast is now clear. The manufactors must have started pressing copies that actually play out of both speakers/head phones. I'm not sure if other music distributors are selling copies that play right, but I ordered mine brand new from amazon and like I said, it plays flawlessly. I should also mention that a buddy of mine ordered a copy right when I told him mine doesn't have sound problems, and his doesn't have problems either.

TOP 5 all time in hip hop,
By
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
I have mannnnnyyyyy classic hiphop albums in my collection, and this one is definately at the summit of my mountain of cd's. This album is also undoubtably the finest of the 3 Organized albums. Both Pharaohe and Poetry are A+ emcees. And that is the bottom line. AND BY THE WAY. . . ignore the hype, this CD is better than their second "Stress; The extinction agenda". However it is a reallll close call, so pick up both classics. If your into poetic lyrics and funk then this is the one. . . If you like dark beats and angry lyrics then get the second. PEACE

Funk masta, think fasta,

I first heard this album a year after its release... I was a young youth just listenin' for rhymes, a solid funky beat and some good mixin'. I clearly remember my favorite album at the time was "Peoples Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythms" by Tribe... OK reminded me of groups like LONS (especially "Fudge Pudge" with its back and forth style) I instantly fell for this album... I'd say its better than STRESS but that's just me. Where are you now, Prince? Five stars... special shouts out to Acey-- boy rocked the cold shot last night at the embassy!

A Classic!!! YOU CAN FIX THE AUDIO ISSUES.,

A Classic!!! YOU CAN FIX THE AUDIO ISSUES. I was frustrated with this CD just like everyone else when I only heard it in one speaker. I even bought the vinyl for a temporary fix. Lately, I've been archiving my CDs to FLAC and ALAC. Then I came across this CD again and I started to get pissed off again. Anyways, I finally found out that you can fix this with Audacity 1.3 beta and the Channel Mixer plugin. Basically, it allowed me to copy the mono track into the right channel. It's a bit time consuming and it took me a while to figure it out, but the results were amazing. I'm sure there's other methods, but this is free.

This is seriously a great CD. Like most of the best CDs of all time, it hooks you in right from the start. I mean, there's not much I can say for it. Prince Po and Monch and on point and so fresh. You've really gotta' check it out.

Debut Album......Mindblowing Lyricizm!!!,
By msiddiq (Miami, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
Organized Konfusion's debut album is considered way ahead of its time! This album contains some of the greatest displays of raw, mind bending lyricizm...EVER! On par with Rakim's "Lyrics of Fury". This album is definetely a mixed bag. After being assaulted by songs like "Releasing Hypnotical Gasses", you get cooled of by a funkier selection. There are also some soulful tracks. Im too lazy right now to pull out this album and give you a track by track review, but this album is a MUST HAVE for any hip-hop conisseur. Also cop their second album, "Stress"..completely different but just as dope! I only recommend their third album "Equinox" for die-hard fans. Its actually a huge dissapointment compared to their previous efforts.

Perhaps the greatest hip hop album ever!,
By "leev8" (Ipswich) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Organized Konfusion (Audio CD)
True hip hop heads recognise how dope Pharoahe Monch is. On Internal Affairs he proved he could hold it down on a solo album. But it will never be the same compared to when he was with Prince Poetry. Duos aren't quite the same when separated. Organised Konfusion's production is excellent, and you can party to the beats even though the album has an underground sound. When you hear this album it's easy to see why they called themselves Organised Konfusion. They talk about all kinds of stuff in their songs with complex rhymes too advanced for MTV viewers. But they sometimes spit so rapidly u may have to listen a few times. My favourite track is Releasing Hypnotical Gasses where Pharoahe Monch probably spits the greatest verse of all time. Open Your Eyes is brilliant which is to do with escaping from the devil. There's excellent braggadocio in the title track and Audience Pleasers. Words just can't describe how brilliant this album is. You'll have to buy it yourself to find out why. I'd also recommend there other albums, Stress: The Extinction Agenda, and Equinox.
