What a joy to read Hellen Buttigieg and Sari Brandes' "Organizing Outside the Box: Conquer Clutter Using Your Natural Learning Style" - a must-read for anyone who is still strugging with organizing their stuff and their life. I didn't realize that everyone had their own natural method of learning. FINALLY a book that explains each learning style in detail with practical examples (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic). Also how to blend styles when you live or work with others who don't share (or appreciate!) your own way of organization. A fabulous little book that you will refer to over and over with additional valuable resources in the back. This book puts fun back into organizing!

I bought this wonderful book in October and am enjoying the experience. I started to cry when I read about my style, because up till now I figured I just was an organizational misfit. Knowing that there is actually a kinesthetic organization style has simplified my life-it makes so much sense to me now!

Being organized is getting easier with each suggestion that I implement. Thank you Hellen for writing such an insightful book that has given me the ability to heal my organizational heartaches.

As a Hellen Buttigieg devotee I was thrilled to see she'd finally put her direct tried-and-true advice into print. Many readers may overlook this gem because it is so succinct-however it is precisely the lack of fluff & redundacy that allows this author's distinctive brand of expertise to shine.

If you are done with organizing books that hide their real message in layers of illustrations, humor & hyperbole, this is the book for you. When the bottom line of clearing clutter FOR GOOD is your goal, this is your 'Bible'.

Hellen has done it again -- her newest book, "Organizing Outside of the Box: Conquer Clutter Using Your Natural Learning Style", is an amazing "kick-in-the-butt" reference guide. She is a no-nonsense woman and the way she approaches gearing your journey to peace and organization based on truly understanding yourself, your colleagues and family speaks of deep understanding and experience. I have to laugh as I think back to her TV show "Neat" and how she in her non-judgmental approach, takes the bull by the horn; her book reflects that mentality -- deep down you know that chaos and disorder are thieves, as she spells it out. She understands that there is an emotional/psychological and sometimes even a socialogical attachment to "things" and she helps, through her book, to frame that understanding. Once you know how you learn (yeah, I had the conviction bubble light up over my head) you understand why you do certain things or have certain habits. Fine tuning what actually works for you in your home or office brings a sort of enlightenment. When she describes working with a team/office environment, it makes sense that certain people are naturally more comfortable with doing things a certain way -- it is not my way of the highway, but, let's find the best way.

This is a great book and I think I read it as soon as I received it. Will be a handy resource for understanding my staff, colleagues, clients, and yes myself too.

There are a lot of organizing books on the market, but as a professional organizer, you don't need to read about the same strategies over and over again. I've always found that the most valuable books are those that acknowledge that organizing systems need to be tailored to the unique style and personality of your client. Organizing Outside the Box by Hellen Buttigieg is such a book.

There are several reasons that this book deserves a place in your library:

I've known Hellen since 2002 and have been her virtual assistant since 2003, so you may think I'm a little bit biased, but you don't have to take my word for it. In case you haven't heard, Organizing Outside the Box: Conquer Clutter Using Your Natural Learning Style won the 2010 Los Angeles Organizing Award for Best Organizing Book, so I am definitely in good company!

I like Helen because I feel that she makes sense. She is down to earth, makes you think about organizing, and you can follow her ideas. I hope she writes more books!

I was looking for something to help me understand how to work with people in a way that resonated with their natural learning style. I found it in this book, which was nice and small and easy to get through in a short sitting.

Basically, it's a quick reference set up so you that you can determine the appropriate learning style for the person you plan on working with and then you just skip to the section that pertains to that person's particular learning style for suggestions on communication, organizational strategies and products geared to that particular learning style.

A good starter!

The master tenet of brilliant architecture is Form Follows Function. I have applied organization methods to special education, which I have taught much of my adult life, I can say that Hellen applies this classic tenet to life and space organization. This book features set of learning tools that sets Hellen's approach apart from any other organzation book - one that incorporates each individual's functional learning style. Having worked with countless students with special and generalized learning disabilities (for whom chronic disorganization is a major syndrome), as an educator, presenting and working with the curriculum via vehicles of their learning style is paramount in achieving academic success. And I have always maintained that the same is true in achieving organizational success. It has never been a surprise to me that the special approaches and techniques that work unequivocally for predominantly visual, or auditory or kinesthetic learners also work extremely well for individuals who need not be identified with special learning needs - these methods make excellent means all across the board. My personal educational and organization philosophy is to "use your particular strengths to overcome your weaknesses" and Hellen's philosophy matches this to a T. Congrats Hellen for contributing insight and wisdom to the mysterious world of Chronic Disorganization in a way that is eminently readable, perfectly clear and helpfully applicable!
