This is a required book for a class that I am taking. It is o.k. in describing Organizational models that are correlating with new organizations.

5.0 out of 5 stars a source book for people new to advocacy group work, December 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There are many groups which seek to represent their interests on a statewide or regional level, and which you hear about all the time on TV or in the newspaper. An individual perosn who seeks to become active inthese groups will always have a learning curve as to how such a group works and what it does do. This book is an excellent introduction into this arena of civil society. It teaches you how such a group works to recruit members, create opinion among its community and to develop individuals who wish to present a particular viewpoint into effective spokespersons.

I got it when I became the President of a statewide Advocacy group. At the time I had no real idea about hwo to lead the organization, and the group had its frictions and factions. It was important to get over the internal dynamics and try to present our view to the outside world. This book gave me the grounding to leanr how to do that.

In a way it's a course in maturity, and in political science for those who never took a poli sci class.
