Finally, available to us celiacs. Very nice, springy bread, a bit bland but who cares? THANK YOU to ORGRAN and THANK YOU to AMAZON for carrying it! Works beautifully for hotdog and hamburger buns as well. I only wish I had known about this six years ago.

I've been using various bread mixes to make GF bread for some time now, so I have the tricks down pat about ingredient temperature, etc. This loaf LOOKED great and smelled heavenly. I literally drooled for an hour just smelling it bake. It rises (raises) better than most of the GF bread mixes I have used, and it has a decent consistency when the loaf is fresh and warm. However, as soon as it cools down, it gets really dry and crumbly, (worse than Bob's Red Mill) and after just 3 days under normal conditions, it already was moldy. (Normally, other GF breads from mix will last me a week before molding, and that's sufficient time for us to use it up anyway. I don't like to refrigerate the bread, because that just makes it dryer, and let's face it, so does nuking or toasting it.) Unfortunately, since I bought it at amazon, I have now a case of these that I'll have to find ways to use toward making stuffing or something where the dryness isn't so noticeable. Anyway, if you want a truly delicious GF bread, see Pamela's Products Amazing Wheat Free & Gluten-free Bread Mix, 4-Pound Bags (Pack of 3) or go to [...]! Breads From Anna are moist and have the right texture, so much so that my gluten-tolerant relatives actually REQUEST the GF Bread From Anna!

My boyfriend has Celiac's and hasn't had french toast in years. I made the bread, in the bread maker, the day before and it was absolutely perfect! I don't have any problems with gluten, but I still think I would prefer this bread for french toast any day. It cuts better than fresh baked regular bread as well, meaning it won't collapse in on itself. I am looking forward to making more of it and experimenting with other receipes.

Easy to make in bread machine. Light and fluffy texture when fresh. After the first day MUST be warmed. Excellent for GF Bread.

I may revisit this review after I have a chance to try recipe variants. I find other Orgran products wonderful. This bread mix was a total failure in the bread machine I have (Regal Kitchen Pro). It fluffed up as advertised when cooked in the oven but you MUST follow the instructions to the letter or the loaf can come apart. It still tastes like rice flour bread to me. Compared to the bricks of GF bread I can buy at my local health food store, this bread is very very good. Compared to what I remember about good Italian or Pep Farm bread, it's pedestrian. In fairness, Orgran Buckwheat Pancake mix (see my review there) has many great variants, so if I find one for this bread mix I'll post that. (I'm a 60yo celiac.)

My husband, who has celiac disease, thinks this is the best bread on the market. It definitely is the easier to make. Only requires oil and water, and turns out perfect every time. Amazon's price beats those health food stores by a long shot! Try it!

Real Bread,

This bread deserves rave reveiws.
Reliable results, even texture. Makes a beautiful classic grilled cheese on white. Success with bread machine. Watch out for the metric to standard conversion on the liquid amount. We almost put in half the liquid on the first loaf, we adjusted it roughly and the loaf still came out. I think in some areas, desert, high altitude, the liquid my need to be fudged up a little. Experiment, have fun! Tucson Danny (Sonoran Desert, Elevation 2800ft)

Good toasted, but got "Thumbs Down" by a 10yr old for Sandwiches,

We tried this mix for our 10yr old son (wheat & yeast intolerant). We've had a hard time trying to find "regular" lunch foods for school & hoped we'd finally get a bread that could be used for school lunch sandwiches (where Wonderbread is the gold standard!)! The bread rose well, was easy to mix up and bake (standard oven), smelled & looked wonderfully & was fantastic fresh out of the oven. He liked it then (we all did) & said it was "pretty good" toasted the next morning (without the crust which he found "too hard/chewy"). However, when sent in his lunch as a regular sandwich he didn't like it (too chewy/bland with a "weird" taste). He also didn't care for it as a grilled cheese as it got "rubbery" quickly as it cooled and then hard. Sooo...the search continues, but this is the best so far and we've tried EVERYTHING!! I must add that he remembers "real bread" and all its characteristics & this has been our most difficult change--otherwise he's not a "picky eater"! One helpful hint: the day after we made it we placed half in the fridge to avoid it getting moldy/stale quickly & froze the other half. Hope this helps those going through the same ordeal!! :)
