(please excuse my english) Who is the guy behind Solar Quest ! I have no idea, but this cd is a nice trip in smooth ambience... SINGTREE (track #2) is simply a master piece.. I'v heard it on "ambient meditation" compilation (last track), and that's why I'v bought ORGSHIP. You like ambient ? try Solar Quest...

4.0 out of 5 stars All Aboard!, February 16, 2002

This is warmer ambient music to really enjoy. Solarquest's album is a true standout, with soft flutes, strange but catchy electronic bleeps, good sampling/singing and sparse, distant trip-hop percussion. The arrangements result in very cool gentle washes of music. I have about 30 ambient cd's- one out of every 5 plays is Orgship. Note: if you like to fall asleep or relax with music, you may want to program all but the song "Awaken Kundalini"-it's a little too lively for bedtime. Nevertheless, Orgship hovers at a nearly perfect level.

I bought this album a long time ago and I haven't come across anything else that beats it. Oh wait, one that comes close is Entropica - Sonic Bloom by the same people who made Orgship. It's another awesome CD. They also make a techno/trance song called One Nation. Check that one out for sure!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The very foundation of Ambient music, October 27, 2011
This review is from: Orgship (Audio CD)
Well I saw this CD had only 6 reviews and there were 3 5 stars and 3 4 stars. I HAD to write a review then to untie this balance and make it fall into the 5 stars side.

Why ?

simply because this album is IMO the founding father of ambient music. it was created in 1994 (!!!!!!!), that's... what... ? 16 years ago??? yes. and it still sounds incredibly fresh and modern, it hasn't aged not a single ounce. Mark my words, cause I'm not American so I don't talk in ounces, so this is serious.

Subtle and sophisticated ambient at its finest. unique, melodic, mysterious, beautiful, accessible, yet not crapish new age style at all....

This album has influenced so many current ambient producers, and still it remains a very rare album, very little known, very mysterious. The man behind Solar Quest (a guy called Goerge Saunders) has released veeeeeery few albums.

This is a true collector's item, and it doesn't surprise me to see it's currently unavailable by amazon and sold new at the very incredible price of 123$ in the amazon marketplace. What DOES Surprise me is that you can find it used-like new for 5 bucks, so please hurry and get your copy before this seller realize how unrealistic and completely out-of-the-market are his prices !!!!!

A true collector's item, a very rare gem, like finding the Bible of Ambient !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Calm relaxing and even fun., December 14, 2010

The music on this is moving, calm, relaxing and has some energy to it and it all comes together very well. I recommend the mp3 album. I think you will enjoy this if you like music that is good for background music and lends itself to the situation wonderfully.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to ambient heaven, May 25, 2010

Orgship is an ambient classic. Cool, flowing notes with just the right amount of backbone to keep from drifting completely into the ether. Vocals, samples and distortion are used skillfully with the synthesizer to create a polished set with great depth. If I had to compare Solar Quest with any other artists, I would describe it as Boards of Canada meets Shpongle.

For those unfamiliar with the genre, Orgship makes terrific background music for a somber day, or to fall asleep to (with the notable exception of track 3). If you like techno and are looking to find something more chill or downtempo, this would be a perfect album to start with. If you are already a fan of ambient music, this one is an absolute must have. If you aren't, you might be after hearing Orgship a few times.
