Wind your amp up to about as far it will go, sit back and head off for horizons new. This has everything; brilliant musicianship, toons to blow your socks off, breathtaking time changes, and a double bass player from heaven. If you like original cross-over music, YOU'LL NEED THIS!!

This album is a combination of highly sensitive and articulate solos over strong trance-like rythm and bass-line. Other music I would describe this way (though clearly of a different style)would be from John Scofield Michael Brecker and Scott Henderson. What makes this album very different and exciting is the freshness of its influences and the originality of the instrumentation... it's truely amazing that Garcia-Fons pulled this off! Listen!

One of a kind,

The shear viruosity of Renaud Garcia-Fons is literally jaw dropping. Unlike most "jazz" bassists, he plays the majority of his solos con arco (with a bow) often in high treble registers. Elements of old Mahaveshnu Orchestra seem to me to come through in the solos. It is a unique musical vision, with unparallelled, and actually, amazing execution. Worth more than a casual listen. It took me several times listening to the cd to fully appreciate it. 5 stars excellent

I had no idea it was possible to coax these sounds out of a bass, absolutely blown away. Great to put on as background music or actively listen and drum along. Great stuff, would highly recommend and not just to fans of classical/oriental music. Garcia-Fons has a style of his own that I've found can be appreciated by many who "don't typically listen to this type of music."

Fascinating world-jazz upright bass composer, with an impeccably commanding and personalized technique, unpretentiously merges Middle Eastern, Indian, Spanish and Asian influence amongst others to reverential astonishment.

One of the best bass players in the world,

This is by now probably the best album from one of the best bass players in the world. I can tell you that I witnessed Garcia-Fons playing the solo "Bajo Andaluz" on this CD live in the same clean and crispy way you hear it on this CD. What makes the record especially outstanding in comparison to the other CDs of G.-F. is its exuberance of ideas and instrumentation. Anybody searching for more purity should in no way miss to hear the solo record "Legendes" and the duo with Matinier (accordion) on "Fuera". I am sure that there is a lot more of G.-F. coming, as he is playing and recording very prolifically at the moment.
