I'm a personal trainer and dance instructor and I can use these pants for either job. They are well made, light enough for warm weather but great for outdoor workouts too. They are essentailly sweatpants, so if you get a perfect fit, I wouldn't recommend putting them in the dryer after washing, I never do and they dry quickly and remain very soft. The look of the pants is great too, as I have received many compliments on the design.
