This is one such book.

This is an excellent book for begineers. This is also an excellent book to give to a child to stimulate creativity. It is an excellent present.

This is one such book.

This is an excellent book for begineers. This is also an excellent book to give to a child to stimulate creativity. It is an excellent present.

Do not expect diagrams. All the folding instructions are in pictures (photographs).

The book has the following sections:
1) Introduction - briefly describes what you need to begin with and tips
2) Folds & Bases - basic techniques are discussed here.
3) Basic models - mainly traditional models - traditional models often has a charm of its own, simple yet effective. That is why it survive so long.
4) Containers - how to fold useful items that you can use
5) Novelty items - an interesting section which includes an action model - a beating heart (a much requested for model).
6) Modular designs - beautiful rings, stars and balls - ideal for decoration for any festive occasion.
7) Animals and Plants - baby rabbit, a cute fat rabbit, caterpillar, bird, cat face, flapping bird and many others.
8) Transport - jet plane, train set, truck, yacht, chinese junk and others. This is an unusual section since it is rare for a begineers book to include this.
9) Complex models - for begineers who have loves challengers
10) where to get more

I have so many favourite models in this book and it is difficult for me to choose one which I like best.

This book covers a wide range of topics and leaves you hungry for more.

So what are you waiting for????

Get it!

We bought this book for our elementary school library and it stays checked out. Fun projects, clear and easy-to-follow instructions and updated layout make it a fun read. Moms who have seen this book buy it for their kids.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buy Another Book, May 27, 2003
This review is from: Origami 1-2-3 (Paperback)
I really didn't like this book. I found the instructions difficult to follow. Sometimes I became extremely frustrated with the directions. Perhaps the problem with this book lies in the photos of the models. Diagrams, instead of the photos, would have made the models easier to make. I recommend another Origami book name "Essential Origami" by Steve and Megumi Biddle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Willingly Wanting, December 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Hey!I really enjoy this book. Its great for origami lovers and enthusiats, its great, with simple, easy to under stand instructions, and best of all, its cheap! It has over 100 pages of origami projects, bases, and techniques. There is even a section on modular origami, using multiple pieces of paper to make a brilliant outcome. I wanted it SO bad. My mom got it for me 2 days after I threw a tempertantrum at school cuz I had to return it to the library and Stacy, my so-called "friend" got it. She let me have it, though, but personally I don't think friends try to tell on other friends every chance they get.

2.0 out of 5 stars An Okay Origami Book, April 30, 2004
This review is from: Origami 1-2-3 (Paperback)
I have been folding origami on and off for about twenty years. I bought "Origami 1-2-3" because it looked as if it had some new things in it that I had never done before.

That is true, however, my skills are really too advanced to make any constant use out of this book. The folds within noted by the author to be the "most difficult" are for the most part not hard for anyone who has significant experience with the art of origami. This was disappointing and has sent me looking for new books quite sooner than I was hoping.

I was attracted to the photographs of the origami folds as opposed to diagrams that you find in most books. In some cases the photographs are really helpful, but in other cases it is more confusing. In some diagrams the folds change from one photo to the next with no explanation of how to get from point A to point B. Even for the simplest of folds, this is very confusing.

On the plus side, this book helped me to relearn some rudamentary skills after being out of origami practice for a while. I also learned a few new tricks that I did not know before. Some of the traditional folds included are really fun for kids. However I would only recommend this book to the person with little to no experience in the art of origami.
