Excellent!,
This review is from: Origami 1-2-3 (Hardcover)
Every once in a while, comes an origami book I would rave about. This is one such book. This is an excellent book for begineers. This is also an excellent book to give to a child to stimulate creativity. It is an excellent present. Do not expect diagrams. All the folding instructions are in pictures (photographs). The book has the following sections: I have so many favourite models in this book and it is difficult for me to choose one which I like best. This book covers a wide range of topics and leaves you hungry for more. So what are you waiting for???? Get it!

We bought this book for our elementary school library and it stays checked out. Fun projects, clear and easy-to-follow instructions and updated layout make it a fun read. Moms who have seen this book buy it for their kids.

Photographed diagrams do not clearly show folding sequence. Difficult to impossible to follow.
Not recommended.

I really didn't like this book. I found the instructions difficult to follow. Sometimes I became extremely frustrated with the directions. Perhaps the problem with this book lies in the photos of the models. Diagrams, instead of the photos, would have made the models easier to make. I recommend another Origami book name "Essential Origami" by Steve and Megumi Biddle.

Hey!I really enjoy this book. Its great for origami lovers and enthusiats, its great, with simple, easy to under stand instructions, and best of all, its cheap! It has over 100 pages of origami projects, bases, and techniques. There is even a section on modular origami, using multiple pieces of paper to make a brilliant outcome. I wanted it SO bad. My mom got it for me 2 days after I threw a tempertantrum at school cuz I had to return it to the library and Stacy, my so-called "friend" got it. She let me have it, though, but personally I don't think friends try to tell on other friends every chance they get.

An Okay Origami Book,
By Joni (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Origami 1-2-3 (Paperback)
I have been folding origami on and off for about twenty years. I bought "Origami 1-2-3" because it looked as if it had some new things in it that I had never done before. That is true, however, my skills are really too advanced to make any constant use out of this book. The folds within noted by the author to be the "most difficult" are for the most part not hard for anyone who has significant experience with the art of origami. This was disappointing and has sent me looking for new books quite sooner than I was hoping. I was attracted to the photographs of the origami folds as opposed to diagrams that you find in most books. In some cases the photographs are really helpful, but in other cases it is more confusing. In some diagrams the folds change from one photo to the next with no explanation of how to get from point A to point B. Even for the simplest of folds, this is very confusing. On the plus side, this book helped me to relearn some rudamentary skills after being out of origami practice for a while. I also learned a few new tricks that I did not know before. Some of the traditional folds included are really fun for kids. However I would only recommend this book to the person with little to no experience in the art of origami. |
