Not easy to follow.........,
By A Customer
This review is from: Origami for Beginners (Dover Origami Papercraft) (Paperback)
It shows you how to do many figures but the diagrams aren't easy to follow. In fact, there aren't even explanations, of any kind at all, to elaborate. It's a good book for maybe more experienced origami folders, but not for beginners.

NOT for beginners!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Origami for Beginners (Dover Origami Papercraft) (Paperback)
The title of this book is very misleading. While some of the models may be suitable for beginners, and much of the actual *folding* of modules may be fairly straight-forward, most of this book involves modular models which are quite difficult to assemble. In fact, some seem to require brute force, stretching to the tearing point (or beyond!) to put the model together. The diagrams are not always as self-explanatory as the author seems to think, and there's little if any text to help the novice folder along. For folders accustomed to the elegant clarity and smooth assembly of the modular models of Tomoko Fuse, this book can be frustrating. That said, there are many good things as well, and any devotee of modulars will want to own this book as well, especially considering the price. In sum, I decided to up my rating from 3 to 4 stars since this is a great value for the money. But NOT for beginners!

Just echoing the sentiments of other people who have left reviews - this book is extremely unhelpful. Even the 1-star (easy) projects are complicated and difficult to follow given the set of obscure diagrams. Do not buy this book.

Not for Beginners,

I've done a LOT of folding, and this book is not for beginners. There are very few written instructions in this book and many of the ones that are present are not helpful. Some of the pictures have folds in them without any intermediate steps that tell you to make those folds. A beginner might be able to do a small fraction of projects in the book, but even an intermediate folder will probably need to give up on about half of the projects. It seemed like a good deal at such a low price, but it was sort of a waste of money.

I'm an intermediate folder; my husband bought this book for my daughter so that I could teach her origami. *I* can't fold the pieces in this book. This was a Christmas present. We're extremely disappointed with it.
