Editorial Reviews

Review

The level of attention to detail attests to the author's personal dedication to this art. Aware of the popularity of airplanes, he has included reproducible "Designs for Airplanes" to dress up the completed models....Both children and adults will enjoy the delights of creating intricate designs from a square of plain paper. Go ahead and fold that basic 'Dart,' and then have fun challenging your skills and imagination... Highly Recommended. (Gillian Richardson Canadian Materials 2012-03-02)

All of the entries feature pictures of finished models in arty tableaux, and particularly clear two-color diagrams that use standard origami notation.... A collection in which even a string of cutout paper dolls is rated Intermediate will have plenty to offer novice folders and the author's lighthearted fanciful outlook gives this extensive sampler a bright and inviting tone. (John Peters School Library Journal 2011-12-01)

An attractive, accessible, well-designed book that includes paper-folding techniques and many different models to encourage a variety of readers. (Kristine Moruci Resource Links, Vol. 17 No. 5 2012-10-01)

I bought this book before Christmas and found it just as you described: a good variety of challenge levels. I also had no problems with the instructions for the models I completed. Unfortunately, it being Christmas, I decided my niece, who is new to origami, would find it an approachable text. Off it went in the mail with some paper to get her started. Now I wish I had it back, so I'll have to purchase another copy.

I enjoy teaching origami to others and wished I had had it this week when I was teaching a class. I have many books but if I were to recommend just one to a beginner with a little hands-on instruction who prefers making animals, etc. this would be one I would be comfortable with.

Enjoy!

I bought this one as a gift for my brother. He wanted to learn Origami, and I hope that this book will inspire him. I skimmed a few of the pages and it looks pretty good. The explanations seemed pretty clear. I hope this is true. I hate editing reviews.
