Prison Poetry,
By
This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
I purchased this book after starting a ministry at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women where the author is serving her life sentence. While I do not visit with the author, I am close to one of her "wing" mates and friends. Although I enjoyed reading the poetry by Ms. George, some of it was a bit much for my vocabulary. I met the author this past year and find her to be a very talented, educated woman with a great heart and love for her family and friends. While I am not an educated poet, I will treasure Erin's book and am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet her.

Such expression from mind and heart,
This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
Erin's poetry overwhelms, humbles, delights, and at times shocks me. Mostly I am staggered at the thought of such a mind and heart being entrapped within the system that bestows no release, regardless of circumstance. Comfort for me comes in that she is at least able to liberate her talent. I look forward to future writings. Future liberation.

Erin, goddaughter,
By
This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
Erin writes from her soul and her heart and her loving spirit. I love this young woman who is facing life in prison, without the possibility of parole, for a crime she did not commit. Her poetry is so beautiful; she is so talented. The words will grab hold of you and linger.....

A Real Person,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
Erin is a person, a real live person, who laughs and cries, has a sharp wit, and isn't afraid to face her dorky white-womaness. She exists, she is not a faceless prisoner. It's easy to look at prisoners and see faceless jumpsuits with bad attitudes, but there are real lives and real people inside those jumpsuits - or jeans - and Erin puts that life and the soul it belongs to right in front of your nose, and challenges you to deny that she is any different from a woman standing outside the bars rather than inside. She is a mother, a daughter, a wife, a real live person. And once you read what she's written, you'll never look at a prison again without wondering what stories are living trapped behind its bars.

Silence Her,
By D.S. (Bethesda) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
The author shot her husband, my friend, in the back of the head on their front lawn -- for an insurance policy. Her poetry should be sad, she's a very sad excuse for a human being. I sure hope any money this book brings in goes to their fatherless son or to charity.D.S.

Sad,

This review is from: Origami Heart: Poems by a Woman Doing Life (Paperback)
This woman is a sad excuse for a human. Not only did she shoot her husband in cold blood but left 3 children without any parents. Her husband James was a dear friend of mine and didn't deserve this horrible woman as his wife. For what... a forged insurance policy. I hope it was worth it. She's pure evil.
