Product Description

"...it’s been happening for millennia—many of the Greek legends tell of heroes returning from the underworld imbued with special gifts from the gods. Do you think that’s just a coincidence?"

Tonight was supposed to be Blaise Maitland's last night as a mercenary, but instead, he's being hunted across the top of a towering Superscraper complex still under construction, flagged by Paladin, his own employers, as a candidate for a terrifying and deadly experiment known as the Incarnate Program.

Years after that vicious battle, Maitland is living the normal life he always wanted, but the Incarnate Program is still operational, and new candidates are being abducted from all over the world. Now, their sights are set on Blaise's new flame, Rebecca Bowman.

Realising he can no longer hide, Blaise embarks on a death-defying, international rescue that takes him from the ruins of Wiltshire to a high-speed car chase through San Francisco, ultimately culminating at Paladin's own headquarters—a public building they will happily forsake to destroy him, even if it costs a thousand innocent lives.

Set in the near future, Origin starts with Australian expatriate career soldier, Blaise Maitland, on his final night working for a global consultancy group which hires out mercenaries and bounty hunters to anybody who can afford their top-level services. Little does he know that he has been selected for the Incarnate Program; a secret experiment with a one-hundred-percent mortality rate. In an epic fight for his life, he is confronted with an unbeatable foe in Alexander Quan, who has been tasked with bringing Maitland in no matter what collateral damage is incurred.

Blaise is about to learn why Quan is such a dangerous adversary...

Featuring fast-paced action, exquisitely choreographed fight sequences, unforgettable characters, advanced weaponry and the most amazing car chase since The Matrix Reloaded, Origin is the perfect read for fans of Cussler, Crichton and Reilly, or avid movie-goers hungry for more action in the style of Wolverine and Iron Man.
It features 15 illustrations including six location maps and a four-page glossary.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Master of the Action-Thriller, February 15, 2010

This review is from: Origin (Glassworks Legacy) (Kindle Edition)
In this book we have the beginnings of an author with action/thriller chops to rival the grand masters of the genre. Matthew Reilly should be shaking - this is as good as Ice Station and Temple.

The plot itself is a a "better" version of Heroes - albeit without the tiresome characters that populate that TV show.

The writing is crisp and clear and packs a punch.

Although the beginning of what is sure to be a rollicking series this book is an excellent stand alone story. No punches are pulled. The first page sends you flying from an exploding helicopter, and within 50 pages a twist is thrown that turns the book from excellent action fodder to simply brilliant story telling.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent action / thriller, February 12, 2010

This review is from: Origin (Glassworks Legacy) (Kindle Edition)
Sitting between Clive Cussler, Michael Crichton, and Matthew Reilly, 'Origin' is a well written action thriller that races along, but still has humour when it is least expected. Roy Govier has captured a likeable hero and villain in the plot. So compelling are their backgrounds, that at one point I demanded to know from my son, who had already read the book, to confirm the fate of a certain character. His advice to me, which I will pass on with agreement: "Read the book."

This young author has written a well thought out novel, and you as the reader, will feel the dynamic power that Roy unleashes in each page as the plot and subplots unfold. You will find yourself unable to put the book aside for such incidentals as food, sleep, work etc.

I will take this time to congratulate Roy Govier on a brilliant novel, and I eagerly await his next literary work.

Well worth the purchase!

Origin: the glassworks legacy is a series of fist fights, gun fights, big explosions and chase sequences-not to mention a Nonstop action that rival like of Matthew Reilly if you're the fan of him )and video games. Origin is a cross between Die hard meets Wolveline. You will be eager to read it and when is the next Glassworks legacy.
