I love these drop bar ends! I recently bought a new hybrid bike and was regretting it because I like the drop bar position when riding. Then I found these bar ends and am completely satisfied! They are super strong and stay in place, so don't worry about them shifting on you. It gives you numerous positions to ride. I made a slight brake modification and moved my front brake lever onto the drop bar end. This way I would be able to have stopping power when in the drop bar position. Check out my pictures, hope they help.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to ride in a different position and add a little style to their bike. You will not regret buying them.

I love these things! Since I only have a mountain bike, these things make me feel like I have a mountain bike; AND road bike, without the price OR need of extra room! Since I could'nt find anything like them at my local bike shop, I decided to check Amazon, (since they seem to have everything under the sun) and the search returned these! When I got them (after installing them), I rode my bike down to the local bike shop and showed them to the owner. He told me that he had never seen anything like them before! He even showed them to an employee. He has since started looking on Amazon, himself! I get strange looks with them,(admit it, how many mountain bikes do you see with drop bars??) but i'm going to try to add brake levers, so I have brakes going down hills (which can be VERY steep where I live) I'll update my photos AND review when I get that taken care of. I ordered some brake levers for them, BRAKE LEVER ROAD ACTION ALLOY W/EXTENSION and i'm hoping they'll work for me. We'll see! Also, I already have, and will CONTINUE to recommend these to anyone with a mountain bike!

UPDATE (12-19-2012): I got the BRAKE LEVER ROAD ACTION ALLOY W/EXTENSION but sadly, was unable to use them. I instead took my bike to my Local Bike Shop, and had them see if they could do anything. Turns out he was able to, (as seen in the pics I put up) as well as cover them with red cork bar tape! That gives them better grip, as they seem to be a tad slippery, otherwise. I still think they're awsome; just more so now!

I installed these in an inverted position which allows me to sit nearly completely upright allieviating pressure from my hands and taking full advantage of tailwinds. High quality and well made.

i have these on some riser bars on a commuter type bicycle. i have added some foam pads to the bar ends and with that they provide good utility. where you might have stretches with little braking they allow for a good tuck riding position.

with your hands on the top of them at the end of the flat bar they assist with climbing and most fingers/thumbs can probably apply a light brake force from this position as well.

thus far they have been a useful accessory.

Have been using these bar ends for a year and I have nothing but the most positive reviews for them!
They holds up well and will not move once you install them properly onto your flat bars. Can be easily adjusted with an Allen key though if you need.

Just a slight warning: you can still use your flat bar brakes; provided you are not riding fast (downhill) or you have very good agility and control over your bike (bars). Else, a pair of road brakes levers are strongly recommended.

Since most MTBs and hybrids have either cable-disc brakes or V-brakes installed; go get yourself a pair of Tektro RL520 dropbar road levers. They work great with all your Avid BBs and Vees, and mounts on well on the Dropbar ends.

So, I have a Trek 7.3 hybrid. After doing a couple 75 mi rides, the straight bars provided on the hybrid get a bit annoying, as they only provide a couple different hand positions (believe me, I have gotten creative). I am in grad school, and cannot afford to spend 100+ dollars on converting my straight bars to drop bars. Thus, I bought these, and they are great. I had to cut my grips a bit to get them to where I wanted them, but they provide great alternatives for grips, as well as providing a more "aerodynamic" option. A couple of the other reviews said that it is "scary" to switch grips to break, as the hybrid breaks are on the straight bar. However, unless you do the transition like a sloth or turtle, you will be fine. I highly suggest this product.

I bought these bar ends a couple weeks ago and really like the fact that they give me a more aerodynamic profile on my bike. I have a hybrid bike with flat bars and was regretting not buying a road bike. These don't make your bike into a road bike, but they are the best bar ends with that purpose in mind. They come only in metal so if you are riding bare handed it can get cold. I'm buying lizard skin wraps available here on amazon to fix that problem.
Taking off one star because they are smaller than I thought they could be and riding without brakes is scary as hell. I would like the loop to go a little lower and have a little more room when you are holding on to the highest part. People with bigger hands might find that they can only use the bottom part of the grips.
Without brakes on these things you should be careful to only use them when no cars are around, otherwise switching to the flat bar brakes, depending on your skill level and speed, you are going to have to take one hand off at a time so you and your bike don't fall over which takes a couple seconds and might be too late if you need to react quickly. One more thing, these are also not as good as real drop bars because they are further apart at the ends of your flat handlebar, real drop bars are much narrower, giving you a more aerodynamic profile. Lastly, you are going to have to probably cut some of your grips off to fit these on. On my bike, I found that 105mm of grip let me fit these a little more than halfway on. Most grips seem to be 130mm. Bottom line, biking is funner with these on. 4 and a half stars if amazon let me give a half more :).
