Out of the Dust of Ignorance The Truth Rises Again,
By Milfred A. Tillman (usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Original African Heritage Study Bible: King James Version (Hardcover)
As The Truth is always destined to rise again, so does The Original African Heritage Study Bible come forth by unquenchable daylight into it's intended prominence. This book is a miracle. The various essays which highlight the ancient spiritual facts which transcend space-time dimensional understanding are like a breath of fresh air for a rescued drowning victim. For this work to actually be manifested and distributable among true believers is equivalent to a black hole in the far reaches of space suddenly reversing it's magnetic force of destruction and becoming a nuclear fusion miracle of LIGHT again which radiates life to all who will see. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness and desire to have a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the deep and intimate knowledge of The Lord will breathe a sigh of relief as they ponder the once hidden but now made known truths such as: THE MYTHICAL CURSE OF HAM / AFRICA, THE GARDEN OF EDEN[Historical Evidence] / THE RIVERS OF EDEN / WHAT COLOR WAS JESUS? / AFRICAN-EDENIC WOMEN AND THE SCRIPTURES / THE ANCIENT BLACK CHRISTIANS / EARLY MARTYRDOM AND AFRICAN CHRISTIANS / PHILIP AND THE EUNUCH and so much more. This information is not presented from a racist point of view which would only be the darkness of ignorance, but from the facts as they should have been known since long long ago.

Not on MY life I won't.Being the owner of this distinctive edition, I have yet to find the "typos" mentioned by earlier reviewers. I appreciate the footnotes, highlighting Biblical text with details as it relates to an African perspective. The book has photographs depicting various stories and events of Bible history, with actors portraying important and relevant "inhabitants" of the text. Another "bonus" is the inclusion of African-American spirituals in the book's appendix. These songs were invaluable to the slaves as a testament to their faith as well as a strategy to be used to announce "running" from their oppressors.

AND...WHO WASHED THE DISHES AT THE LAST SUPPER!?,

We have been a people desimated by what we have been told what we were not and what we did not do or have or the potential to be at least human. We were forced to accept christianity on someone elses terms. And today (1998) we are still begging at the backdoor of the plantation and expected to back into the American Dream while everyone else runs screaming forward. This Bible is a must have for every African Descendant family and is required reading. The answers that are contained in the text will truly set you Free! What I call the required questions for a christian who is Saved and has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior are answered. The LORD asks are you Holy? The world asks are you humble? GOD asks are you Saved? The world asks are you Successful? JESUS asks are you Worthy? The world asks are you wealthy? The HOLY SPIRIT asks are you Prayful? The world asks are you Political? Ths African Heritage Study Bible is clear on all of these issues and points out that GOD is NOT a Republican, GOD is NOT a Democrat, but rather GOD IS A COSMOCRAT!!---------- YAA ASANTEWAA NZINGA

Finally, the Bible Restored,

I always knew that the deep spirituality of Africans-IN-America is something that could not have been merely imposed on them by the slave owners. They came here already soaked in Christian spirituality. This bible fits with my theory and shows that Jesus and indeed most of the key players in the Bible were indeed proud black Africans.
You can see from how Jesus talks that he has typical African eloquence. He could be MLK or Creflo Dollar with his rhythm and cadence. This bible offers proof of the blackness of Moses, Isaiah and others, as if the names alone weren't enough to convince you! Sadly, when European whites coopted the teachings of Jesus, they distorted the words to their advantage, leaving African Christianity a shambles, which made it ripe for Islamic penetration. So much so that many Africans-IN-America think of Islam as the original religion of African people. While many of the slaves were nominally Muslim when brought to America, that was the result of medieval conquest, but their Christian spirituality remained and gave birth to spirituals and all American music. All culture and religion came from Africa in one way or another. It only follows that we deserve this Bible that sets the record straight.

African Perspective,
By Petey Wheat (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Original African Heritage Study Bible: King James Version (Hardcover)
This Is really a great bible for anyone to own.It written from an afican perspective and goes Into what races of the people of the ancient world actually were. There was one review that called this faulty reasoning.Well, this Is wrong.Cleopatra, contrary to popular belief was of mixed blood and not fully white and many of the roman's were dark Italians(also of mixed blood)and had many diffent races serving(much like the u.s. army of today)In thier army. The egyptians of Jesus were NOT blonde blue eyed europeans, some had lighter skin, some had darker skin, but no white jesus could have hid In egypt.Anyway, this a good bible to own and makes very good reading.

Well Edited Bible,

The comments and editorials written within this Bible are useful and insightful. I have used it several times to look up meanings to words and to see racial and ethnic relevance of people such as the canaanite woman, Moses' wife and more. This Bible is very useful for my studies.

A lot of reverse-racist baloney,
By
This review is from: The Original African Heritage Study Bible: King James Version (Hardcover)
This comment is limited to the study notes, etc., not the biblical text, which is the King James Version.
I took a ministry course on "The Old Testament: The Black Presence in the Bible" through a black seminary (Interdenominational Theological Center out of Atlanta, GA) and was quite surprised to find out there was a significant presence of blacks in the Bible: the Ethiopians, Nubians, pre-Arab Egyptians (e.g., Ramses II with Moses), Canaanites, Phonecians, Cyreneans (Simon of Cyrene carried Jesus' cross), the wife of Jacob's son Joseph, Candace, Queen of Ethiopia who married Solomon and bore him a son, King Solomon, Bethsheba, wife of King David, and many others. Unfortunately, THIS book doesn't present it. This book gives the definitely false impression that EVERYONE in the Bible was black. EVERY photograph shows the person as black. PAUL???--who says he was from the tribe of Benjamin? NICODEMUS?--one of the Pharisees? EVERY disciple? We're not talking "brownish", we're talking BLACK AFRICAN with typical black African features. There isn't ONE person depicted as even vaguely SEMITIC. The note on the back of the book says, "The Original African Heritage Study Bible is the only one of its kind." Yeah--because it severely misrepresents the subject. One of the things the course professor (who is black, has a Doctor of Theology degree, is a long-time pastor and has taught at Texas College) pointed out expressly is "Virtually ALL 'scholarly' work on "the black presence in the Bible" is SEVERELY distorted. Authors either portray EVERYONE as black or NO ONE as black. He used THIS book as an example of distortion showing EVERYONE black." Felder has loads of notes claiming this or claiming that, but not once does he provide any references either for further study or to support his claims. Anyone wanting information MUCH more reliable on the Black Presence in the Bible should check out Walter McCray's books, although they do tend to be a bit biased too. Pass this one up. There are plenty of good editions with the same KJV text and the "scholarship" in the notes is highly unreliable.

Don't read this it's just some racist propaganda with a black power slant. I'm black and a christian and this book is bias and doesn't lead people to unity but separation and hatred for our fellow man of every race. I believe and know black people are in the bible and God loves them just like all other people, but the mistake here is to exalt one race as superior than another and fill people with pride and bigotry. Jesus said he's not a favorer of any man and that he died for everyone from ever nation, kindred, and tounge. Who soever that shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Please remember this and avoid Satans tactics. In Psalms it states one of the 7 things the Lord Hates is a man that causes division among his brethren.
