Claire Burke's Original Vapourri is a classic fragrance for a home. I grew up with this scent. When I would visit my auntie's big, rambling Victorian home in Cleveland Heights in the fifties and sixties, I could be sure of a few things: fun new foods to try, sleeping upstairs in the third floor bedrooms, having a bath in the claw-foot tub, and this fragrance wafting throughout the house. I associate this scent with a traditional home, filled with wonderful family life and heirlooms.

Claire Burke's Original Vapourri is flowery from rose and lavender, but not too flowery. It's not too spicy, but the vetiver and amber in it keeps it from being sweet. It's not overstrong, where you want to open up a window when you use it, but it's not the type to dissipate so fast you wonder if you used it, either. It's a soft fragrance, used in the spray in tiny bursts, so one canister lasts a long time. I have put one of the oil-reed scent diffusers up on top of my grandfather clock on the landing of my stairwell, so that the scent is not just in my bathrooms, where the spray canisters "live." When people come to my home, they usually say, "Your house always smells so nice. What is that?"

Not easy to find in retail stores any more. Glad that Amazon.com carries the whole line!

I ordered a CASE (first and last time doing something like that) of my favorite home spray, Claire Burke Original Vapourri ... and it smells NOTHING like it used to! The new formula is definitely not an improvement over the old, lovely one. In fact, I can't stand the new smell. I wonder why the new company felt they had to tinker with something that was so perfect???

Other reviewers said the new formulation of the "original" scent of Claire Burke Original Vapourri was way off the mark.

I disagree.

I ordered a bottle of the new formulation and gave it the sniff test against a sniff of what remains of my "original Original." There was a difference, true, but it was *very* minute. Unless you are a professional nose, you are not going to notice it. Go ahead and buy with confidence.

PS. The change is bcs of a change in environmental laws. Otherwise, said a company person, they wouldn't have altered the formulation.

I first found this scent at Coolfont Resort in Berkeley Springs, WV. I used it year after year in the mountain homes we rented there. Found it again in St. Michael's, MD. I still have a can that is years (and I do mean years) old. It is still as fresh as the first day I bought it. Of every home freshener I have ever used this is the only one that is truly memorable to me. It's the original. I love it.

Absolutely LOVE this product - smells fresh but not overpowering. It was great to find it sold on Amazon!

I've been buying Claire Burke products for years. But, my favorite is the "Original" Vapourri scent in the can or candle. A little goes a long way so the cost is more than worth it!

The Clare Burke line of room sprays has to be one of the best in the world. It's been around forever and it's distinctive...not the usual florals. I remember it being the "signiture" scent in my aunt's house back in the 1950s. I was surprised and pleased that CB also has fragrances for other seasons, ie, the fall, Christmas etc. Worth the price!

Some reviewers said that this formula was not the original and smelled differently. I think it smells just the same as I remember from years ago. I have really been enjoying having it again! It is nice to walk into my bedroom after a long day and be greeted by this nice, elegant smell! LOVE IT!!!

I was first introduced to Claire Burke's Original scent many, many years ago. It seems that every little gift shop and boutique used this as their signature fragrance. Therefore, I still associate it with the simple pleasures of browsing through lovely things in feminine surroundings. And even though Claire Burke has some other great fragrances, the Original is still my favorite.

I actually have this fragrance in votives, potpourri, lotion, and Vapourri. Unlike many room freshening sprays, Claire Burke Vapourri lasts a very long time. A few short sprays and your home will smell good all day long.

Their website describes the Original fragrance as a scent of roses, lavender and spice blended with patchouli and vetiver. All I know is that it makes my home smell and feel warm, cozy, and feminine. After all these years, I never get tired of walking into my home and being welcomed by this lovely fragrance.
