Ska Music Lives On,
By Diaspora Chic "diaspora_chic" (Silver Spring, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Original Club Ska (Audio CD)
In the ghettos of Kingston, Jamaican music was taking storm, sparking a revolution among the youth. Jamaicans look to African-American R & B to create their own rhythms of music using the teachings of Marcus Garvey, reviving religions, and demanding independence from British colonial rule. This was the birth of ska and the man in charge was Clement "Coxonne" Dodd. Coxonne produced many hits and created giants such as Bob Marley and the Wailers & Toots & the Maytals. The genres of music change in each time period but the music is perserved for enthusiasts of Jamaican music and its musicians.
