Stray Cats Turn it up a Notch,
By
This review is from: Original Cool (Audio CD)
Absolutely no one does the rockabilly hits like the Stray Cats: nobody. This album proves it. 20 Flight Rock is so incredible, it must be heard to be believed. Somethin' Else just jams, I Fought The Law is almost better than the original, Be Bop A Lula, surpasses the orginal, Let It Rock is everything you expect it to be and Train Kept A Rollin' will keep you rollin' and wanting more. The rest are excellent as well, but these moments stand out. An excellent CD that is a must-have for any true Stray Cats fan and any true fan of rockabilly. Brian, Slim Jim, and Lee; you have done well.

Original Cool,

All covers. Occasionally sounds like they are just going through the motions, but, overall a fine compilation. Check out the bad translation of the lyrics. Very funny.

This a rockin' cd of the Stray Cats performing with their fifties rockabilly sound with some of their own music. They perform songs by stars such as Eddie Cochran,Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, and Gene Vincent. A must have for Stray Cat and rockabilly lovers along with fans who have not forgotten Eddie, Buddy,Elvis,Ricky, and Gene. Keep it Rockin'!

Album is dedicated to their idols. Cover of "Be-Bop-A-Lula" is probably the best cover of this song I ever heard, "Can't Help Fallin' In Love" is very beautiful too. It's a beautiful collection of rockabilly's greatest songs.

15 boss numbers by the cool rockin' daddies of modern rockabilly, including covers of classics like 'Oh Boy','Somethin' Else', 'Twenty Flight Rock', Bobby Fuller's 'I Fought The Law', and 'Lonesome Tears'.

The Stray Cats are better instrumentalists than any of the rockabilly bands who's tunes they are covering this CD, but somehow this CD feels a little flacid. Granted, I knew it was all covers when I bought it, but I'd much prefer to hear some original tunes rather than just a great band phoning in some old rockabilly hits.
