Never mind the bad review from the mechanically handicapped person. It is just a rubber balloon and not very difficult to fill. The plugs and straws in the 30 or so balls I have purchased over the years have been just fine.

This is a great toy for kids because all the crying and pain associated with getting hit with a ball disappears with Gertie. I have played many tag games with them and very rarely has anyone been hurt. All ages can play great variation on games, like basketball and vollyball or just a game of "keep it up" or "crack about" they are all great fun.

You do have to remember that the softness of the rubber does weaken it and makes it prone to popping on sharp object but hey they only cost $6.99, what do you want?

I am the mom of a 3 year old and a preschool teacher. My daughter has owned a gertie ball since she was 6 months old. The ball is easy to grip for small hands, easy to inflate and can withstand our labrador biting the ball. I recently bought 12 to use in the preschool. My class of 4 year olds love these balls. As a teacher, I love that they can play without fear of damaging the property or hurting another child because they are so soft! I also have 45lb. kids sitting on them like hippity-hops and they never bust. I give gertie balls as birthday gifts or shower gifts. They are wonderful!

The ball is great and lots of fun. I bought it because it would pack flat and I was looking for toys to entertain my 10-month old in a hotel room---his grandmother was taking care of him while I was at a business conference. He had a lot of fun with this ball, but ONE major problem we encountered is that a baby with teeth can pull the plug out. My mom saw that my son had something in his mouth within a few minutes of giving him the ball and we realized he'd pulled the plug out. Scary! I will save this until he is older.

My 13 month old daughter loves this ball. its easy to grab and she loves the color. She'll also occasionally chew on it which is fine. The ball is great -- its bouncy and light and very grabbable! I think thats why my daughter is drawn to it -- she ALWAYS catches it. Every kid should have one of these. We had a birthday party last month and all the kids wanted it!

I brought this on holiday for my 2 and 4 year old children. Packed it in our hand luggage for long-haul flight. I was glad I did when our flight had a delay. Kids and I had a lot of fun playing "basketball", football and catch at the departure gates (don't worry we found an area with less people!). We even recruited other bored kids! Gave the kids a run-around and they slept most of the 8 hour flight. Packs up flat when deflated and can be easily stowed in a carry on bag. It did end up getting a small hole in it when we used it outside and it flew into a ditch. But I'll be buying another one. Makes a great present.

I bought a pair of these balls about two months ago. One was for my not quite two year old daughter and one was for a form of squats when I work out. For her, this is an easy to grip, soft, never goes flat ball that she loves to throw around, bounce around, etc....it wont bounce evenly due to the plug, but it doesnt really matter. She simply adores it. I can even throw it at her when teaching her to catch, and when she doesnt catch it, it harmlessly bounces off her to her unending delight, lol. As far as squats go, you can simply hold it with your knees locked and then do your squats, It makes them a little more effective and also helps with maintaining proper form. A friend of mine runs a physical therapy clinic, and he swears by them, which is what prompted me to try this out initially. All in all, a great, inexpensive purchase.

These balls have a unique type of rubber that is very easy for little fingers to grip. They bounce well, and are a definite favorite of my daughter.

The only downside would be the fill mechanism. It comes with a straw you have to stick in the hole and inflate by blowing. Then, pull in out and stick in the included stopper. The stopper is hard plastic and does cause some irregular bouncing from time to time. Still, its better than most other toy balls.

I love these balls- I had one when I was a kid, and put it on my two-year-old's wishlist last year. A relative bought it and I was thrilled. However, I couldn't stop my son from pulling the plug out with his teeth, as mentioned by another user. He also bit it several times- making a small tear one time (not all the way through the surface, and finally tearing through at a later time. I don't like the length of the plug- it protrudes far into the center of the ball, so if, for example, a kid sits on it with the plug on the bottom, the plug could jab into their leg or bottom. Also, as mentioned, the ball does not bounce as expected if it lands on the hard plug. Still a fun toy, but more suited for elementary kids than toddlers.

These are squishy and easy to grip, just like I remember from when I was a kid. The hard part is that you have to blow the ball up with a straw and try to super quickly close it off with a plastic plug that is a BEAR to push into the ball. Every time I blow it up, I feel like I coulda-shoulda-woulda gotten more air in there if I had done it another way. Either way, it's a decent, inexpensive ball - and mine came in purple, which is awesome.

My 13 1/2 year old granddaughter with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy loves to play ball. She has few other outside interests so I felt like this ball was a great fit for her. I ordered her two of them for Christmas and she LOVES them and also plays with her "gerty" (basketball) hoop! Her other siblings love the balls, too! I would order from this seller again! Thanks!
