Original Himalayan Crystal Salt Inhaler

I got asthma symptoms after having a bad bout of bronchitis last fall. Everytime I try to clean house or even if I merely move something with the slightest bit of dust on it, I begin to cough uncontrollably. Thus, I have to run to my inhaler or if I've already used it, I have to suffer through the coughing fit.I'd gone to cleaning house wearing a dust mask and had to experiment before finding one of those that actually worked. Needless to say, this has been a total inconvenience as well as being physically painful and alarming. I've worried what the long terms effects are of using the drug.
I won't say I don't cough occasionally after faithfully using this product but not with a fraction of the intensity and duration I've previously experienced. Even if the salt in it is from Cleveland not the Himalayas who cares? It works and it produced the desired effect for which I'm humbly grateful. I would recommend this product for fellow sufferers to try. I've been able to go without using my inhaler for a week!!!
UPDATE: I haven't used my inhaler for one month!!
UPDATE: March 25,2008--still able to go without inhaler!!!
UPDATE!: March 14, 2009--Haven't used inhaler for over a year. I still have to be faithful about using this when I'm going through a bad period. I sent one as a gift to a friend from FL and he's experiencing the same relief.

I am a lifelong asthmatic. I've tried just about everything. I take a daily steroid inhaler, and on average use my albuterol rescue inhaler probably 4-5 times a day, as well as during the night when I sleep. After a horrible few weeks of breathing after getting over a flu I went on the web in my never-ending quest for asthma relief and stumbled across salt inhalation therapy. After reading a few articles about it I found these salt inhalers and gave it a try. I have this same model, but bought it from a different source. I noticed a difference after the first use, but I thought it might just be a placebo effect so I gave it a few extra days. After the second day of using the salt, I went all day without using my rescue inhaler!!! A week later, I've used my rescue inhaler maybe once. And when I did use the inhaler, it really worked. I had built up a tolerance over the years and noticed my medications were becoming less effective. I'm going through the night without having to use my inhaler at all and feeling great when I wake up. I just feel normal for the first time in years. Soon I may get the courage to wean myself off the steroids and see how that goes. I don't know exactly why this works. Some theorize the salt draws water into your lungs and helps the mucus lining do its job proberly. Or possibly the properties of salt neutralize bacteria and irritants in the lungs. All I know is that I truly notice a difference, and didn't think I would. The cherry on top for me is that the salt crystals inside supposedly work for 3-5 years. If this was in the hands of a pharmaceutical company they'd figure out a way to make you replace them every month at exorbitant cost. Anyway, I'd say this product is worth trying.

My mom was bugging for me to try the salt pipe for a while, as I've suffered from increased asthma/ respiratory ailments since moving to Los Angeles 8 years ago. I have to admit- I was skeptical, and it seemed a bit too hippy-dippy for it to really be all that effective. However, she finally purchased one for me after my Advair had ceased to help anymore, and my coughing fits were getting worse and more frequent.

All I can say is WOW. I noticed a HUGE improvement within a few days of using it. I had all this gunk come up from my lungs (you do cough up a bit of congestion, but better out than in, right?), and the coughing went away as well. I was surprised at how effective this was- I let it lapse for a week, and my coughing rebounded- started back on it and the coughing went away.

My advair ran out the same time I started the salt pipe, and I haven't had to refill the prescription since. I'm glad I've found a replacement- the advair isn't cheap, and even though this seems like it'd be a pain to use the pipe for 10-15 minutes a day, you just use it while watching TV or on the internet, and it goes by without you even noticing it.

The only thing is to watch out that you don't breathe out through your mouth. (you can get the salt wet that way, which makes it less effective)

I would HIGHLY recommend to anybody suffering from respiratory problems from air pollution/ asthma, etc...

I was a bit skeptical about inhaling sea salt and having any impact whatsoever, but I had heard great things from a lot of people that had tried it after Dr. Oz recommended it. I had a terrible chest cold (which for me turns into bronchitis yearly) and was miserable, so I thought I would give it a try before I had to use antibiotics or deal with my breathing getting any worse. I received the product very quickly through Amazon Prime 2 day and it was packaged properly and as described.

I breathed slowly in through my mouth and out through my nose for about 15 minutes in the morning and before bed while reading a book. I noticed a slight improvement after the first day, and more and more improvement over the next 2 days. By day 4 I was feeling great, and I never recover from a chest cold this bad, this quickly. I had had to sleep sitting up in the recliner due to coughing every time I tried to lie flat prior to getting the Crystal Salt Inhaler and nothing else was working.

This definitely helped with my sinuses and lungs, and I noticed my allergies were not as bad as they normally are with the change from summer to autumn each year. I have already bought another as a gift for my best friend, and will continue to use it to lessen my allergy problems.

One friend said it took her a week and a half to notice a difference but her symptoms weren't as severe. Another who has been using one for a year (different brand) said that she has to use her prescription asthma inhaler twice as often if she travels without this. Now that I'm not sick, I just use it once a day, before bedtime, but I would definitely recommend twice a day for the first couple of weeks or when you are fighting severe allergies or asthma. I bought this item after seeing Dr. Oz speak briefly about it. I have multiple auto-immune disorders. One of them being Sjogren's Syndrome. This is an auto-immune disorder that causes excessively dry eyes, dry nose and mouth, as well as dry organs. I have been having such a difficult time with the dry eyes, nose and mouth. No, this doesn't do anything for the eyes, however, using this for only a few minutes a day and just inhaling through my mouth and exhaling through my nose I have been able to stop taking all of my nose sprays with the occassional exception of Saline. I was on Nasonex, Aphrin, and Neo-Synephren at least four or five times a day, if not more. But, not any more!! I also recommended this to my brother who has early stagees of COPD as well as asthma and muliple allergies. I also reccommended the himalyan salt to my father for his intense GERD's (gastro-esophogeal relfux disease). He uses a small amount mixed in warm water and drinks it down. He also usues it for cooking in place of regular salt. I don't know what it is about the Himalyan Salt and its trace minerals, but it is a wonder product. I recommend this product highly. However, do not stop taking your medications while using this with out first checking with your doctor (that last sentence is the nurse in me taling)!!

What a amazing difference this has made with my asthma, allergies, sinus, and breathing. Dr Oz needs to be thanked as that is where I heard of it. I have tried everything and nothing has ever helped so much. I normally end up on predisone (a steriod)during ragweed season, and I am almost never able to breath though my nose most of the season. I am now able to breath through my nose and that also helps the asthma. This works and is so easy to use. I use it driving to and from work. I use daily 20-40 minutes daily. Great price and fast, great service from amazon. I tell everyone how great this product is.

I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. I just wanted to reiterate that this really does work. I had a severe case of bronchitis that resulted in uncontrollable asthma. I was on a rescue inhaler and Symbicort. I decided to try a salt crystal inhaler after hearing about it on Dr. Oz. I started out using it 25 minutes a day about six weeks ago. I am now doing 10 minutes a day when I remember to do so and I haven't used either presctiption inhaler for over a month. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I too saw this product on the Dr. Oz show and thought it was worth trying. It works well in clearing bronchial congestion. Great natural remedy.

I bought this for sinus relief but doesn't seem to work for that. However you
have to breath deeply through your mouth and then release through your nose usually
with this and similar salt inhalers. Doing that makes you do the deep breathing they
just recommended in a study that shows how that can and often relieves Blood Pressure
problems. And since they only request you do it for a few minutes each day and this
asks for 20-30 minutes a day you might really see some benefits towards reducing
blood pressure levels. And what's nice is it seems to be long lasting and stablizing
results of lowering BP. Deep breathing is suppose to be great for other problems too.
One of my inhalers mentioned it might not be good if you suffer from heart failure
such as congestive heart disease so you may want to check with your doctor first
if you aren't sure. Or if you have concerns with other health related medications
or conditions that you are under a treatment with a doctor for. Over all I did not
get relief with sinus issues...in fact I seem to wake up with more goo in my throat
than before using this inhaler. However the benefits with stablizing BP outweighs
not using it. I have by the way low BP not high but it stablized it. I have fast
pulse too and I think it's brought it back down to under 100 and as low as into
the 80's at times. Maybe it has some effect on that too but so far it's not stablized
as the BP results are. So how do I use it. First off I just zone out watching a news
program in the evenings or a show I enjoy watching and use it during that half-hour
to an hour. I don't time myself except to make sure I use it more than 20 minutes
straight. Doctors have been recommending deep breathing excercises now for a few
years and this really does the trick for that. And who knows...might help with your
sinus and throat and lung issues too over time.

This inhaler did not completely help my asthma and bronchial problems but defiantly helps and I use it every day, sometimes for and hour or more!
