This rack is great if you must spend a lengthy amount of time in the kitchen because you can transform your existing ipad, kindle or other device into an "under-the-counter" media system. I never planned on buying an under-the-counter TV/DVD player, the reviews were poor and couldn't justify spending the cash on one. This little rack gives just about the same experience, but better. Of course you need to have a device to place on it, but since you are looking at this rack you probably already own something you plan on using with it. Why is it better than an under-the-counter TV? Well, it's more versatile. You can easily remove the rack when you aren't using it so it doesn't permanently clutter up your kitchen. Plus, you get to utilize your favorite device even more!

This rack has been handy to watch basketball games on the ipad via the directv app while cooking in the kitchen. It's no longer necessary to call into the other room "What happened?? Who scored? Pause it!" while leaving food cooking unattended on the stove. Also if music or audiobooks is what I want, I no longer have to pull out the boombox or the macbook. Just pull out the stand (I store mine in the above cabinet) & plop my device on it & play. Great for recipes too. There is a bread recipe online that I use frequently & no longer lose the counter space to the laptop while baking. Many uses! I most likely will modify mine to rotate. I would buy something like this: Lazy Susan Bearings, 3", 5/16" Thick, 200-lb. Capacity, attach the top bracket to a wood spacer & place the bearing in between that & the bottom of the cabinet. It would be great if it rotated out of the box but, the modification shouldn't be too hard to do myself.... It could also hold a real cookbook too if you still use one of those! (I do.) I will try to post pictures after the modification. Hope this helps. Oh and I also use a Gumdrop Cases Drop Tech Series Case for Apple iPad 2, Black-Black, (DS-IPAD2-BLK-BLK-V2) case and it holds it just fine. Read more ›

Keeps the iPad off the workspace, which is important in my small urban kitchen, and works well in either landscape or portrait mode. It's able to hold the iPad despite the thickness of its case (Piel Frama). Although the rack can easily be tucked away, it's transparent and I usually leave it up. I use a screen protector (Speck) but have never found so much as a splash of ingredients on the screen, which I sometimes did when using the counter-based iPad holders that I have since tossed.

If you want to know why this product has so many 5-star review, I can give you two reasons: 1) It works well; 2) They bribe users with free accessories in their packaging materials.

The product itself is fairly easy to install with some basic tools and looks good and works well in the kitchen. Sometimes the tray gets in the way and doesn't store conveniently, but without making the device much more complicated, there's really nothing to be done.

I knocked off two stars because I don't think much of their bribing buyers for 5-star reviews by offering free prizes and accessories. (A slip comes in the packaging that offers a drawing that you "enter" by leaving a 5-star review.) That seems like a clear violation of terms-of-service, or at the very least, the spirit of a free and open marketplace.

Mounts easily and securely. Holds my wife's generation 1 iPad as well as my generation 3, other products are specific to the iPad and aren't as compatible with different cases. I also like that it is easily removable so we can store it in a drawer when not in use so it stays clean. Also works to hold recipe cards and printouts my wife brings home from work on occasion. All in all it is much more versatile than I expected when I first ordered it!

I knew that as soon as I got an iPad, it would become a mainstay in my kitchen...I was looking forward to it storing all my baking recipes instead of my rinky-dink binder. But the question was how to mount the iPad in a way which was cost-effective, sturdy and with relative ease. My husband found this listing on amazon and told me how it would take him five minutes to install and how the rack could easy be put away for storage when not in use. I figured for this price point, why not?

My verdict? I love it. I just put it to good use as I used it to hold my iPad while I was baking some pumpkin chocolate chip bars. I have it mounted near my KitchenAid, so I can quickly glance to the recipe on my iPad as I was mixing away. It seems super sturdy and I love that I can take off the rack when I'm not using it. My kitchen is tight on space, so having the option to store this was very important. I'm super pleased and would definitely recommend this to others in a heartbeat.
